I have a pain going on the top of my tibia near the knee. It doesn't hurt to walk/run it just is tender/a little painful when I touch it. I recently started wearing a new pair of training shoes Monday. Also, this is my second 80 mile week. I only took 3 build up weeks. 61,70,75,80, and this week should be 80 too. I haven't ran this much since Jan 06. I know a lot of people will say the build up is too quick, but I felt good building up (Soar legs but other than that I felt great). I sort of listened to the ideas of the quick/non-existant build up from the 9:00 2 mile thread. I'm really worried about the tender tibia. I don't want a stress fracture, but at the same time I really don't want to drop the mileage. I'm feeling really comfortable at this mileage and I'd like to keep it there. Can someone give me a description of what a stress reaction and fracture feels like? Also, do you think the training shoes could cause the problem in such a short amount of time (5 days)? I've never had a stress fracture before despite running 85 mpw in the past if that helps.
Sorry for the disorder. Organization isn't my strong point.
