What the hell is with this guy?
Missed the cut at Disneys latest boy band tryouts?
Does he actually think he's being cool?
Jerk.

I don't think it's an act from either Ritz or Solinsky. Usually it's the mid-packers in high school races that fall to the ground. And yes, I do think most of them are acting.
I was just wondering why those two always faint (or collapses) after races. It's hard for me to reach the point of fainting at the end of a race, and especially not after every race.
I have also seen Ritz finish & win a race, and merely stand in place for a few brief moments while he catches his breath, and then move right along. Obviously the humid 86 degree heat affected him, which is too bad. 77 sec last lap, bummer. Hope he can bounce back from it for the 5000.
hes said hes only racing the 5000 if something goes wrong in the 10000, which i think would mean not top 3. i don't think he would want to race it and deal with the chance of passing out and whatnot again.
He wants to S Salazar's D
Why isn't it crystal clear by now that Dathan is never going to win a big race under HUMID and hot conditions? His body is not built for that stuff.
makes not going to mombassa look like a good choice for him.
I always thought it was dumb when sprinters bust out the speed suit only to have a 2 pound gold chain on their neck as they run. But now distance is getting into it too! Rupp had a yellow lance braclet on (that fad was over about 3 years ago, but I guess Oregon is always a bit behind the times) and Ritz is wearing a shell necklace. I guess he really likes Hawaii...The least he could do is bust out a ritz cracker made out of gold with a big fat diamond in it and wear that when he runs. That would be tight!

Its only an O for Oregon..
Beavers and Ducks, Crips and Bloods, Jets and Sharks...
When will it end?
Ritz is wearing a necklace he got from Athens as a reminder of how bad he wants to get back to the Olympics after the circumstances of the last one. He said he'll never wear it again if he makes it back.
I thought it was L for leprechan
All the Oregon track athletes make the O sign when they win. Check out their conference photo. Rupp is just doing what his teammates do and give him credit, he made the world team. The shirt was a little weird but to each his own. I guess he can frame it and say "this was the shirt I made my 1st world champ team in."
As for the speed suits and chains I guess it's a sprinter thing and I wish I could run 9 sec for the 100m. The thing I have noticed is the sprinters have stopped taking off the top of their speed suits and rolling it down to their waste(females notice these things :) I wonder if some rule has been put in effect bc it has suddenly stopped. Too bad bc those sprinters have nice pecs.
oops I meant waist :)

Who faints more... Ritz or Solinsky?
And does it really mean they give more effort than anyone else?
No, I would bet that the fainting thing is due to a combination of poor nutrition (does anyone know if Dathan is hypoglycemic?) and heat. There are some runners who can carbo load without an insulin spike and others can't. The ones who can't, if they carbo loaded prior to racing, can actually start the race with low blood sugar levels. Add heat and viola, fainting, crawling, etc.
Although I'm no doctor, (I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night though) there's no doubt in my mind that Solinksi is in the hypoglycemic range, just not sure about Ritz, but likely.
It rarely is acting or pushing yourself beyond some kind of human threshold.
i dont know why so many people think galen cut wholes in his jersey to look cool. It looks to me like he did it to feel cool with the hot temperatures. Also, the live strong yellow wrist bands werent' a fad for appearance u dumba**! they are to support cancer research, and if u were wearing them or any other reason ur not a very good person.
Rupp has that same nasty white shit on his lips that Lance Armstrong had at his TT a while back. I guess it's from bad dehydration.

The fainting is probably a personal thing. Some people puke before, during, or after races. Apparently some people faint. Some people are more susceptible to cramping, etc.
The "gang sign" thing is lame. Seriously, does anyone look at that and say, "Cool, I should do that in my next race." Pumping your fist and sh!t like Mottram does is cool. Making some hand puppet, not.
And on the previous post...do people really carb load for a 10k? If so, why? You're just going to pack on a couple pounds and get no benefit out of it. Your normal level of stored carbs is plenty for a 10k.

This is just stupid. Many people still wear the yellow bracelet. It means more to some people than others. It is for cancer research and some people have had family or close friends either suffer and die from cancer or get better and many of these people like to show their support.
If these guys could run shirtless I'm sure they would. Much more comfortable. I'm sure USATF regulations say something about attire...plus the sponsors would be pissed. Next best thing is either a shirt with holes in it or a half shirt a la German Silva.
