You must not get out much. There is nothing scenic about running along Chicago's lakefront path.

I would say the lakefront path is actually quite scenic. You have the beach, skyline, the lake itself...etc. I'm not saying it's the most beautiful sight in the world, but certainly noteworthy for someone from out of town.
What do you consider scenic?
The Lakefront Path is quite scenic. Many enjoy the vistas of the lake and the skyline including me. Very pretty. Also, many other things to look at while running there from the museum campus, etc.
You can spend the whole day in Grant, Millinium and the museum campus, especially those from out of town (or out of country!).
Enjoy Chicago. Lots to see & lots to do. Much of it within walking distance of the Hilton & Towers.
I've always found the lakefront path fairly scenic...a nice view of the lake on one side and generally plenty of hot tail going in both directions. What's not scenic about that I ask?
Definition of "scenic: of or pertaining to natural scenery.
Nothing scenic about buildings, skyscrapers or museums
UK Traveller, 1/2 mile north of Navy Pier is a sandy beach where triathletes do their open water swimming. If you are heading NORTH on your lakefront run, stop, get in a swim, then continue. Actually, preferable to do it or your way back/south. Shouldn't the guy do some running in that zoo park also?
Next time you are in Chicago, look over the other shoulder and you'll notice a rather large body of water. Unless, that is, it does not fit your criteria of "natural scenery."
You sound like you have a lot of experience running there. How many years have you lived near that path?
scenery is not filthy e-coli infested lake michigan.
it's mountains, valleys, hills, streams, etc. take a trip out to oregon and you'll know what i'm taking about.
stop trying to make chicago out to be something it isn't. it's a city, urban, with lots of buildings.
