Are the decemberists still considered indie?
For me i'm diggin the klaxons, CSS, fujiya and miyagi, hot chip, and the rapture. all pretty amazing. i'm not really sure whats indie anymore because it seems like pop, rock, electronic and indie are all one genre now. My Recent favorite album across genres is "Pocket Symphony" by Air. very laid back electronic type music.

I think, though I have idea what "indie" is, I just know it when I hear it.

indie is just short for "independent", meaning the artist is not supported through a labal or record company. so any indie can be rock, electronic, country, whatever.... though, it seems to mostly be rock or alternative bands that are refered to as indie.
thats true but i think indie describes a genre of music, in the same way that pop describes a genre of music, even though you could just say pop means popular music(encompassing any genre)
