Tegenkamp owns Pre.
6th, 8th and 9th fastest 2M ever for Mottrom, Bekele, and Teg
3rd, 4th, and 5th fastest athletes all-time, too, behind only Komen and Geb.

Quite an astute observation, especially since Pre has been dead for 33 years.
Teg ran 9 seconds faster than last year in the Pre 2 mile...does that mean we could see a similar improvement on his 5k? mid 12:50's???

Don't get too carried away. The main reason they are ranked so high is because so few world-class runners race this distance. A whole slew of Africans would be faster. Look at their 5K world rankings to get a better idea of how they stack up.
The only reason to run a 2 mile race is to break a record. That's why it's rare. I wouldn't be surprised if next year the Pre classic doesn't have one because now it appears the AR is actually solid.
This makes it appear that Teg could run under 13 this year. I'd actually be very surprised if he didn't go under 13. I say 3:33/7:31/12:57 for him this year.
Interesting, I didn't realize Pre set his first 2 mile record just 2 weeks before the Olympics
