What were they? Put two underclassmen in the lead to slow the pace down so that the UNC runner could use her far superior finishing speed to win going away?
Have you ever seen anything more counterintuitive?!?

wisconsin used to use this tactic. Basically, they took it out honest (66) then slowed it way down to box in felnagle. Lambie of course saw this coming to she is able to shoot out and hopefully get enough of a lead so that by the time felnagle breaks free it's too late and she wastes her kick catching Lambie.
Felnagle smackdown on Stanford.
I guess... but it couldn't have worked worse. Lambie ran a brutal third lap and was rigging at the end. Meanwhile, the UNC girl was able to keep contact and dominate down the stretch. How far ahead did they expect Lambie to be?
It wasn't a bad plan, and I certainly think it was planned by the Stanford crew. Her teammates moved it along briskly then compressed the field a bit, and as this happens Lambie slingshots on by. Lambie needed a lot of distance with 200m to go to win, and she tried to get it, whether it was smart or not she made an effort.
The problem with the plan was Felnagle responded perfectly, she never freaked out, just adjusted and closed the show.
the f***ing retard announcers were so wrapped up in Felnagle vs. Lambie they never even noticed or mentioned that the Florida State girl passed Lambie with 20 meters left for second
idiots
If I was Felnagle, I would have walked right up to Lambie and sweetly said, "Nice try, honey." Not even a bit of sarcasm in my voice. What a stupid bitch for trying to cut her off. I'm glad the bitch got third!
I saw that in person and it was pretty bad. I wouldn't even want to win that way. I hope that was just a teammate plan and not a coaching plan. Congrats to Felnagle.
Felnagle = Foxy Foxx

Whatever. With a title on the line, most people would do whatever they could to win. Lambie didn't break the rules.
You don't get to the #3 athletic program in the NCAA, and thrive in the PAC-10, the toughest and most competitive conference overall in the NCAA, by playing footsie on the track !
