I acutally thought CBS did a decent job. Sure the commentary is less than spectacular but I thought they did a good job of covering the events. Live action... no cutting away during the 1500's. Overall some of the better American track coverage I've seen in a while.

Carol Lewis' hits from the 2007 NCAA championships:

Referred to the 4x400 meter relay as one of the "funner" events in track and field.

Referred to Lajerald Betters as "Jerome" repeatedly. And later likened his running style to that of a "locust".

Gave the incredible insight that if Arizona State's women's team was going to win the championship, the athletes would have to perform well.

Chastised the entire field during the men's 800m when Golden Coachman was allowed to open up a 5m lead to begin the second lap.

And, of course, "He passed him so fast that he might have caught a cold."

Great insight, Carol. Although you may not do the job that CBS pays you for (i.e. top-tier analysis of track and field), you certainly make the broadcasts more entertaining.

Did anyone remember Bolden's comment about Hastings?

"If she turned pro after this year she would be the number one pick"

Number one pick for what?! This isn't the stupid NBA/NFL/MLB.

You guys are really pitiful. Ato makes a joke about Baylor being consistent (death and taxes)and because u dont get it you come here to make it seem like it was some serious comment.

Dwight Stones refered to Leonel Manzano as "vertically challenged."

I had thought that Stones had grown up. He really is the same smartass he was in high school. Even Runner's World (in the 1970's) ran commentary about his inability to hold his tongue, and how disliked he was by his fellow athletes. He moved out of the Olympic Village in Montreal and his roommates had a going away PARTY! for him.

i think when she was referring to Lajerald Betters as jerome she was thinking jerome bettis.

ato bolden makes carol lewis look like forrest gump talking to stephen hawking about astrophysics.

The fake excitement with the out of breath almost yellling was just awful.

And yet still not quite as good as analogies between leg turnover, a loaf of white bread, your local high school track, and a 60-second lap.

I beg to differ since I went back and watched. Bolden's Baylor quote was good, I think he called a team wrong in the 4x400 but they caught it and corrected him. The baylor kid did run the leg ass backwards that was not pacing in a 400m when u have to kill yourself coming home, and when he says Hastings is walking by people she is passing 2nd place, so you guys can do about as much about comments you like or dont like or mistakes in a live show as u can about the sopranos finale.

She is so tactless in her interviews...I remember her at the 2003 worlds and she interviewed Regina Jacobs (when People were oblivious about drug cheats), and basically asked why she choked, and then wished her Happy Birthday (f***ing Classic).

Other than Carol's often whacko commentary, did anyone else think it was shitty for them to only display the top 3 finishers at NCAAs on the on-screen graphic? Eight are all-American, don't they deserve recognition?
