i know there are a lot of threads on femoral stress fractures, and i've used the search function so please don't tell me to do it again. It just seemed like most of the time people are asking about femoral neck stress fractures and mine is in the mid shaft.
Anyway, my orthopedist and trainers have been pretty vague and annoying with what they are telling me (ie: my trainers put me on crutches for 3 weeks/ my ortho at home said he would've never did that) and no one gave me a definitive answer on when i could return to running. I haven't run since April 10th and am planning my return to running on June 18th. This will give me 10 weeks of no running at all. I only started cross training about 1.5 weeks ago. I just want to know if anyone has dealt with this injury before and thinks that 10 weeks is too little, and if i should probably hold off for 2 or 3 more. I'm just getting pretty antsy and really want to get back to running, but i also don't want to ruin my last college xc season. So, I want to make sure when i return i won't just get myself hurt again.
Also does anyone have any suggestions on how to bring myself back from this? I was thinking of starting off the first week by doing 3 miles every other day on trails mixed with cross training and then gradually building it up to where i'm training typically in july.
