2006 Statistics
2006: 6th at AT&T USA Outdoors (1:46.50)...AT&T USA Indoor runner-up (1:47.25)...7th at DN Galan (1:46.66)...7th at Rieti (1:45.60)...ranked #3 in U.S. by T&FN...best of 1:45.60.
He is about the same age as Lagat. I should remind you he has the fastest 1500 and 800 combination of any US distance runners (3:31 1500 1:42 800). \
Bekele. Mottram. Webb. Fam. That will be the top four in that order. http://www.winningrunner.com
the following is what mottram has said:
Mottram is likely to threaten the Australian two-mile record of 8min 11.27sec he set in 2005, just weeks after collecting the bronze medal in the 5000m at the Helsinki world titles.
"The Australian record is not a target but I suspect there's a good chance I'll go under it if I achieve my aim of competing well against the Bekele brothers and the others," Mottram said.
"I'd be surprised if the race isn't won under 8:10 and I expect to be right in it no matter what speed we race at."
so if i have the right data the american record is 8:11.48. all webb has to do is take the same approach as mottram. the thing is mottram could have another race where he is just not the same mottram. hopefully webb doesen't key off mottram exclusively.
His 800m PR is 1:43.92, not 1:42. He doesn't appear to have anything left.

Let´s hope that those little high school kids who predicted Webb to run sub-8 will stay off this message board from now on!
I'm not surprised about Tegenkamp's performance, as he ran an awesome 13:04 5,000 last year. It would have been interesting to see Famiglietti run too. Dathan Ritzenhein ran quite well, despite predictions, barely missing Webb's old record. I'm not sure what happened to Webb, but I wouldn't write him off. Most runners tend to become more consistent when they approach the peak age of 26-29. Lagat is more consistent now, but his best times are all from 5-6 years ago. Teg, Ritz, Webb, Fam, Symmonds, Galen Rupp should have some exciting peaks ahead of them.
2-Mile
1 Craig Mottram Australia 8:03.50 *
2 Tariku Bekele Ethiopia 8:04.83
3 Matt Tegenkamp USA 8:07.07 **
4 Dathan Ritzenhein USA 8:11.74
5 Ben Limo Kenya 8:15.90
6 Jonas Cheruiyot Kenya 8:16.77
7 Zersenay Tadesse Eritrea 8:19.34
8 Juan Barrios Mexico 8:23.81
9 Alan Webb USA 8:23.97
10 Adam Goucher USA 8:26.46
i really dont think webb is done if you look at that race he was beat up all over the place the first mile he never even got a chance to get comfortable or get in a good running pattern he just got beat up... he\'ll bounce back ok personally I think he races a bit much you never saw El G race as much as he does i think he should condense his racing schedule a bit . just my two cents
