Hi folks. If you are planning on running the Boilermaker 15k in Utica, NY this July, please read the following:
I will be acting as the sub elite coordinator. Sub elites are generally good regional runners. To help them, the Boilermaker sets aside a special corral immediately behind the elite/invited corral. Sub elites also have their own warm-up area with porta-potties, water, etc. You won't have to fight the other 11,000 or so runners. It's the next best thing to being invited/elite (although you still have to use a normal registration with a normal entrance fee).
The sub elite corral holds about 100 people. There are around 8 corrals total in the Boilermaker, arranged by seed time, although they are not coded within each corral. If you're fast (but not elite fast), you'll want to get into the sub elite corral. Trust me. The next corral has about 1000 people in it and they get larger from there.
There are two ways to get into this corral: First, if you have run the Boilermaker in 55 minutes or better in the last two years, you're all set. Second, if you haven't run the Boilermaker in 2005 or 2006 but you have run a 15k elsewhere in 55 or better, or produced a similar performance (such as a low 17 5k or a sub 36 10k), you need to send me an email. Give me your name, address, age, and the performance you are submitting to gain entrance. It must be VERIFIABLE. That means I must be able to find it posted on the web or other reliable publication. Road races should have been run on certified courses. (Please don't bother to tell me that you ran 16:00 at the Podunk 5k this Spring if you can't provide some proof that you did and that it's a certified course.) Send your email to bmaker2007 at dissidents dot com.
Thanks,
