Is the Ipod Shuffle good? I might get one to run with, but I thought I read somewhere that they break down with moisture. Maybe that was the first generation Shuffle though.
Any experience, positive or negative, with the Ipod shuffle?

I bought one two weeks ago. So far it's been great. I just clip it onto my collar and I hardly know it's there. The battery seems to last forever. I only use it on my morning runs but after about two weeks (10+ hours) it still hasn't run down.
I'm concerned about moisture too because I noticed a little bit of green corrosion on the headphones today.
works great. helps pass easy runs. can hardly notice it's there. and it's cheap.
I love mine. Clip it on the shorts and forget about it.
I washed and dried my 1st gen iPod shuffle (I'm an idiot) and it still worked.
I've worn mine on runs and at the gym with no problems. Just strap it on your shorts and go, no need for armbands like the nano. It's small enough where it's easy to keep away from sweat, but they have cases if you want. I like it because it's been reliable, it's easy to use, and the battery pretty much lasts forever. I barely recharge it.
I love my shuffle and have been running with it since December. Last week it rained on me in a 20k race and then again a few days later on a training run and i started having some problems with it. It still works so far but now the light doesn't blink to indicate how much charge is left on the battery and it took a while for my pc to find it when i plugged it into the usb port. Probably can withstand some moisture but it has it's limits.
I love mine. I keep mine in a zip lock baggie to keep the moisture out. Actually, I cut a zip-lock baggie in half and taped the end to make it smaller. Works great!
I love it. I don't need the whole big ipod deal, but like the little one for running. Big change from when I used to run holding a discman in one hand in high school!

This is a great idea. I think the Shuffle was MADE for runners/joggers. Clip it on your shorts, you never know it's there! I never use it outside of running, but I would imagine it's not as good as the other ones that have the screen. But for running it's great to just let it play through the songs you have on it and just get some easy mileage. I love it for easy days.

I just put Saran Wrap around mine when it was raining.
you can get one but don't run with it. running with an ipod or other music device is for fools. it messes up your rythm and you cannot listen to your body. they are also, bad for girls (some guys too) because they can't hear other people come up behind them. i guess if you are just training for fun then its fine (besdies the safety factor)but anyone whos anyone doesn't listen to ipod's on runs....they are made fun of by the true runners.....
just to let all you guys know
I got the Creative Zen Stone, roughly the same size (physical and memory wise) as the shuffle, and less than half the price. It was $38.99 at Walmart. Creative products rate just as high or higher than Ipod stuff, and they are much more reasonably priced.

Wow, I had no idea that even existed. That's really cool, and cheaper than the Shuffle! The only advantage I would see for a Shuffle is the built-in clip that you can wear on your shorts. It would seem you would also have to purchase an arm-band for this device.
It's great for listening during long trips, easy to carry, well priced. Why the f*** would you run with it?

Even better for me than the shuffle. I listen to audiobooks on some long runs - the ipod is not compatible with the netlibrary downloadable audiobooks from my public library.

Yeah, but no real runners actually wear Pearl Izumis either...

Right. I forgot some small shoe company made the "Runner's Laws and Regulations" handbook. Running 5 minute miles with a MP3 player on reduces me to a "jogger". Terrific, thanks for the update.
