I must have missed this run in March by Wanjuru.
Was it legitimate? If so, it's an incredible run (more than 2 consecutive 10k's in 27.15 or thereabouts).
Anyone have his splits?

Uw relatieve finishpositie in het totale deelnemersveld van de Halve marathon wedstrijd:
Samuel Wanjiru is a man of his words. Two days before the 33rd edition of the City-Pier-City he had promised a World record..... it had caused some disbelief when at the pre-race press conference he said he would run the first ten kilometres in 27:30....yesterday that 10km split was 27:27.
“First I will run the 10,000 metres at the World Championships in Osaka in August. After that I go back to Rotterdam to better the World record again. In December I will do my first attempt on the marathon in Fukuoka,”
more like 27:45 10k pace
That is a sick, sick time. At first I thought it was a short course, until I saw the full result and the list of names behind him.
Just think, Wanjuru would have probably won most 10k's 'en route' to his half marathon victory. I think no one could have stayed with him on that day.

On the 20th May Samuel Wanjiru, Zersenay Tadesse and Micah Kogo are all taking part in the Great Manchester run which is over 10K.
What do you think about the possibilities of Gebrselassies 10K world record being broken.
Kogo has allready ran a 27:07 this year which is only 5 seconds off of the current world best.
Wanjiru has never really raced over the 10K distance on th rods with a personal best of 28:09 which is relatively useless saying that hs split a 27:27 on route to his 58:35 half marathon world record.
Tadesse won this event last year in 27:36 but has also had some brilliant runs at the half marathon distance.,
Overall Kogo has the fastest 10,000m PB which ranks him 6th on the all time lists but their PB's are all within 6 seconds of each other. Both Tadesse and Kogo settheirs last year with Wanjiru setting his in 2005 so it probably doesnt represent his current best.
All three have it within their capabilities but if they are on pace who will have the confidence and strength to break away from the others or if it comes down to a sprint finish who will come out on top?
My bet is that Kogo would win if it came down to a sprint finish but i dont think that either Tadesse or Wanjiru will want to end it that way so i reckon that Wanjiru will try and run the legss off of the other two.
who?
