Roughly 25 minutes after winning the 5,000-meters at the IC4A Championships (14:00+), Liberty junior Josh McDougal came back to win the 10,000 in about 30:23(official times not available at this time). McDougal, who is also scheduled to run the first round of the 1500-meters on Saturday, joins Villanova's Dick Burekle and Penn State's Greg Fredericks as the only runners to win both distance events at the ICs. Buerkle(1970) and Fredericks(1971) won the 3-mile and 6-mile in the first two years the longer race was added to the program, but they achieved their wins on separate days.
Thanks to PA announcer Larry Newman, who called from trackside at Princeton to let me hear his call of McDougal's last two laps of the 10k!
