Reading the article about the winner of the Honolulu Marathon winnter that just tested positive I was somewhat suprised to learn that the organizers did not expect to recoup the prize money they awarded the cheat.
Can't the organizers insist on a contractual provision that requires that prize winners who later test positive return all money awarded? I would think that the organziers rather than the athletes have the majority of bargaining power and could thus insist on such a provision.
To insure that the prize winners arelegit and that the RO doesn't pay for cheats perhaps prize money can be held in escrow pending the award winners sucesffuly passing drug tests.
