The men do not have a track program, but all of the men's cross country athletes run a track season for UCF (still go on trips paid for by UCF, and still wear UCF gear). The men performed very well this year with new PR's this season as follows...
14:48
14:59
15:12 (also ran 31:46)
15:12 (has run 3:56 for 1500)
15:17 (also ran 31:49)
The UCF program is/was in dire need of a change of coaching. Marcia Mansur-Wentworth was extremely resistant to change, such as always using the same workouts that have proven to NOT work. The only reason the guys ran so well this season is because they ran their own workouts using similar methods from a previous assistant coach.
Both the girls XC and track programs are notorious for getting great talent out of high school and the girls end up never improving (or never improving to their potential) as per Coach Wentworth.
I hope the UCF program gets an excellent coach for both XC and track. The athletes have put up with her for too long and they certainly deserve only the best. Most of those athletes are some of the hardest working I've ever seen.
