This is utterly ridiculous. "In no time you'll be crying for help from the ACLU"?...Uh, no, not likely. Those weasels would never stick up for a good, honest American trying to defend his Constitutional rights.

Why don't we just have free gun day? Let's just hand them out to anyone and everyone. Let the students take them to school so that they can defend themselves. Same goes for carrying them on airplanes etc just to be sure no bad guys make it on board and get away with anything. They should loosen up the law a bit too so that if you mistakenly fire at someone you thought was bad, you won't get in trouble for it. The bullets should be armor piercing as well in case a bad cop needs to be taken down and they are wearing protective vests. Also, if you take down a good person but you thought was bad, then it is ok too. After all, bad people are out there with guns and we need to take them down when the need arises.

Fifteen years ago I discovered so many young children were VICTIMS! As a patrolman the calls started coming kids 8 to 11 calling, 10 calls back logged all day. Ya get to the house and the parents are sitting on the couch the child says my teacher said I could have my parents arrested for yelling at me or making me go to my room...unlawful detention! I had a problem with the INTENT but the teacher advised the child. New laws started popping up ..we caught a parent yelling .."GET in your room now and study!" Child abuse. A lady was already on scene..from Protective..ARREST THEM..its child abuse. The calls to the school by parents, their child is listed 23 out of 25 in fun run..discrimination..mean, can we file can't we get attorney. Calls all day by parents, my child victim was called ugly, fat, skinny etc etc etc etc. A bully said this ..my child was hit with dodge ball thats assault. My childs feelings were hurt, some man was smoking a cigarette out in the park..the wind was blowing this way..second hand smoke damage we want him arrested. For years all concentration has been on our children are victims of everything and I have not even touched minority child victims' STORIES! A thousand more examples I have dealt with for years. It is so wonderful that we figured out that our children have always been victims and stopped parents from their abuse! Thank God! Finally our kids have grown up KNOWING THEY DON"T HAVE TO TAKE ANYTHING and if anything comes their way...they are NOT GOING TO TAKE IT! It is a problem though when the kids get to high school and beyond and the teachers and parents aren't their nearly as much to protect them from victimization...seems these kids still REMEMBER THOUGH...they are VICTIMS and they DON"T have to take ANYTHING! Its good, nationwide, we have taught our youth how to survive and NOT BE A VICTIM. Thank Goodness.

The USA is too conservative to seriously consider limiting the ownership of guns. So it will remain an armed camp well into the future. VT could have been avoided if individuals were only allowed to possess a flintlock musket. This weapon is notoriously inaccurate and so slow to reload that any potential victims of Texans and unloved students could grab a bite to eat before needing to flee the vicinity.

So in a week or two the terrible slayings at VT will be forgotten by the vast majority of citizens and the issue of gun control will only come up for discussion when the next massacre occurs.

Three step process:

1) ban guns and offer an amnesty and full retail price reimbursement for all who turn them in to be destroyed.

2) search every house in the land.

3)When finding a gun, execute the owner with the same gun before destroying that gun.

Nonsense. It's a lot harder to pull a trigger without thinking about the consequences then plunge a knife into someone repeatedly. Especially 32 people. Guns make it easy to kill without thought for the action. Banning them would of course prevent, or at least, reduce incidents like this. They are unnecessary in this day and age and were only relevant when the constitution was written. That's why the police aren't armed en masse in the UK because it would encourage criminals too in response.

Your test case of the UK doesn't mention the skyrocketing home invasion rates now that criminals know that regular people have no means to defend themselves.
