You will be an Olympic medalist....man come on you will be the fastest walker in the world....ok let me add you just broke the world record by 40 seconds while winning your gold Olympic medal. You would not trade that in for missing the OT provisional time in your event?

only if i found it as personally satisfying as running. winning an olympic gold in another sport wouldn't satisfy me as much as a high school record would becuase running is what i have passion for.
If you are American you wont be walking for an Olympic medal, you'll be walking for chance to go to the Olympic games. US walkers get there back ends handed to them in international competition, and you would to. Other countries have some of their best endurance athletes walking, we have the "never were" "could of" "would of" "injury prone" guys representing us in the walking realm.
Thats what my dreams are... :) I want to be a standout racewalker after starting my career as a great distance runner...Things seem to be going according to plan as of right now...I want the medal and to go to the Olympics...I really didn't stand a shot running anyways...but maybe my brother can...

Maybe (I don't really follow the "sport" so I don't know), but the hypothetical question was "If you were good enough to win a medal", so by the premise of the question, you would be walking for a medal.
I probably wouldn't. The value of a medal is only equivalent to the value you place in it, and I wouldn't place much value in a race walking medal. I would value it about as much as winning a local road race and I wouldn't be willing to get on a plane and travel for a local road race.
