I think it's time for lunch.
Anyone else have any interesting thoughts?
I already said this like 8 weeks ago!
I always liked Ereng and it seems to fit there.....
... revisit late 60s and 70s ??? will he, or will he want to, convince his an influx. if so - UTEP back in the mix quickly. Don't have a clue how he can coach. Certainly won't matter if recruiting pans out.
UTEP = nad
I was curious to see what kind of program he was going in to and found this. While the current crop of distance runners are not outstanding, I was awed by their school records. How many other schools can boast records such as those? Also, If I were a UTEP runner I would be pretty thrilled to have him as my coach. I imagine UTEP may have aspirations to bring in some Kenyan studs down the road.

You mean, like they used to?
Has Ereng had any coaching experience, or is he getting hired based on his competitive credentials?
Back to the days of Nyambui, et al. I think it will make for good sport.
I grew up in El Paso and I used to spend a fair amount of time at the UTEP track meets. I knew Ted Banks and remember when they called his program the "foreign legion". He had a lot of success bringing those guys into his program because they actually liked El Paso.
El Paso is a great place to train. Humidity is almost non-existant and it is usually fairly cool in the mornings. The school itself is on the side of Mount Franklin and you would see all the Africans running across "Trans-Mountain Road" (not just a little hill, either) down into town, around Fort Bliss, then back across the mountain to campus.
I heard stories of Coach Banks taking the guys out to New Mexico to run in the desert - long runs, in the powder-like sand. No wonder those guys blazed when they got onto a track.
UTEP has a great track/cross country tradition. I for one, hope Ereng can bring back some glory.
Warthurts has already called Ereng and offered to recruit outside of Africa if Paul would leave Canada and NZ to Ronnie and the "Sullivan Pipeline".
brannen really tore up europe this summer. he's racing about 800 meters too short.
el paso blows try living here much less going to school here too to make life much worse. hopefully utep canstep it up they have pretty much no one special next year since bashar is gone maybe dirk can step it up. oh ya they have some really smoking hot girls on teh team from europe, yum.
Dude, someone stole all your punctuation.
Do you really go to school at UTEP? I can't believe you have made it to the university level with the grammar and syntax you have displayed.
Nobody throws down on a message board on me! Take this... and this ;;; and this ,,, and a couple of these :: Don't make me mad or I'll show you what I've really got and bust out my Ali shuffle parentheses on you!!
Ereng had been working as a coach with the KAAA or a camp or something. Got fed up with the BS I guess.
watch out
you think f*** face
