Awesome job!
Damn! She ran faster than I did in high school and I was our #3 in the mile senior year.
Congrats to her!
Sorry, eddylee, someone misinformed you. The National High School Record for the Girl's Mile is:
Mile 4:35.24 Polly Plumer (University, Irvine, California) Westwood, California 5/16/82
which would mean that Polly Plumer passed 1600M well under the 4:39.16 of Jordan Hasay. Nonetheless, a great run by Hasay, but please stop creating inferior records to those already established.
holy sh*t, thats insane, especially so early in the season. what will she be running by states/golden west/NON???? i say she definitely breaks 10 min for 2 miles at Arcadia next weekend.
I say, let her run with the Boys and then we'll see how fast Hasay can run.

I'm sorry for creating inferior records, but I'm just reporting what I have heard. Please forgive me. I know that you should not believe all that you hear btw.
Original poster is correct. She broke the National Federation Record - high school only meet, against high school athletes, in the regular (before state meet) season. The Federation Mile record on the boys side is still JIm Ryun's 3:59 from the Kansas State meet in the 60's - the only sub 4 in a sanctioned, high school-only meet. NON doesn't count in Fed book - not a regular HS season meet.

How was Plumer's career after HS?
That is an awesome run by Hasay. Would have loved to see her compete in Mombassa, but I know it wasn't her fault.
exciting prospect i cant wait to see how she does at world youth championships july 11-15

3:58.3 in 1965 to be exact.
Yep, a national federation record (thanks for the description of what that is)
= to 4:40.77 mile, which on the Shepard list (combined 1600/mile) is #8 all-time. Still ahead are Plumer, Gallagher, Bowman, Lambie, Tauro, Felnagle, Claugus.
I don't think Plumer did much after HS (Patti Sue certainly did; her sis, right?). Gallagher and Lambie have done well. Claugus eventually did all right on the roads
all that for what it's worth ... If you look at the boys all-time mile list, some guys didn't do great afterward either, but let's not debate all that.

Isn't Decker ahead of that as well? I thought she ran like a 4:35 in HS?
Indoor Girl's Mile Record is superior as well:
Mile 4:38.5 Debbie Heald (Neff, La Mirada, California) Richmond, Virginia 3/17/72
Isn't Decker ahead of that as well? I thought she ran like a 4:35 in HS?
No, Decker is 4:42.0
Also, I don't get why fed record excludes state meets? Does it also exclude district/region/section meets that qualify for state?
That has to be a sophomore class record- in MARCH no less. One wonders what the world age 15 record(s) are. She'll be 15 until September.
I thought it included State Meets, just nothing after- like NON.
Ari Lambie ran 437.2 in the mile at her state meet.
The girl from Woodbridge set the CA sophmore record last year at the CA state meet in about 4:41 I forget her name. She was dominate in cross country but didn't run the footlocker meet this year. Could be a good race between them two if they both stay healthy and race the 1600 at state. The other girl Kosliski(sp?) should be in the mix too.
It was just a county meet. She ran alone from the get go. Second place was just above 5 minutes. She was going to run the 4x400 as well.
I hope she doesn't burn out before running in the USATF Junior Nationals in Indianapolis in June, since I'm going to the meet.
Colin Sahlman runs 1:45 and Nico Young runs 1:47 in the 800m tonight at the Desert Heat Classic
