recently heard a presentation on chirunning.
personally, i give it mixed reviews:
some good points about body posture and positioning and the importance of alignment and relaxation that almost anyone could benefit from if applied to their running form
but then there is a lot of less credible stuff on the foot strike and leg motions - kin to POSE, but not really the same
they don't sell it as "run faster" but as "run more efficiently and injury-free"
Chi running gets roundly bashed on Letsrun, due mainly to some of Dreyer's hyperbole, particularly the parts about running being effortless, while gravity does the work.
In addition, he is criticized for re-hashing old knowledge.
That aside, there is much that can be learned from Mr. Dreyer's teachings. He does a good job (IMHO) of describing smooth, efficient running in a manner than is easily visualized. While he does not sell it as "running faster," that can certainly be the net result of better form and technique. I believe the book is well worth its $14 price.
There are some discussions of Chi Running on these websites:
Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with Chi Running or Danny Dreyer. I just believe that it's useful information that is worth a look.
