Hoping the altitude pays off. Feeling pretty good.
Goal: Anything >2:40 with a strong finish.
I qualified with a 2:40... anything around there would be fine. I am hoping to go faster but we'll see how it goes. I have been running more than I did before my qualifying marathon, but training doesn't seem to be going as well. Hopefully everything will come together for race day.
This will be my first time at Boston! Good luck with the training everybody!
If I wanted to run it, I could beat all of you.
How does that make you feel?
I have not even been training.
The B.A.A. runs the Boston Marathon. The race director is David McGillivray.
This is just stupid, I suck at trolling.
I qualified with a 3:02 and I am trying to break 3:00.
I have not had the best winter for training though.
I quallified with a 2:51 at Mississauga.
I'm shooting for just a sub 3:10 though because I'm trying to pace my girlfriend to a PB. She quallified with a 3:13 at Detroit.
I plan to shoot for 2:45 at Bayshore 6 weeks later.
Gervs I also am shooting for 2:45 at Bayshore, good luck to you
what corral are you in?
are you familiar with the course?
Qualified with a 3:09, barely making it on minimal training. Was shooting for 2:55 after some great base work, but after 3 weeks of a calf strain and reduced mileage, just requalifying would be great.
What do you think will be the slowest time for a runner in the elite women's start this year?
Derderian.
Hey old man! Looking forward to racing your guys this year! We have 5 solid doods gunning for the team championship. It should be lots of fun. I may be bringing up the rear --- hopefully sub-2:30.
Miss you lots.

It was supposed to be 2:48 but a bit slower could have still made it; 2:52 in the last year and/or 2:55 at boston last year. Actually, some masters womens who are copmpetitive masters are in so there will be a few just over 3 hour pace.

weather at Boston is truly a crap shoot. in the last 13 years, it's been warm (by my definition) only 4 times; 1999, 2003-5
I ran 2003-5! Guess who the jinx is!
Good news; I'm not running this year so it will be nice. I'll run next year so expect heat.
I just checked, numbers have been issued, except for elites.
I will try to requalify @ 3:20. Did an :18 last yr. 51 y.o.
I'm more worried about some sort of headwind then heat. These point to point courses can either be a blessing or disaster depending on the wind direction.
most years, you get a bit of headwind the last 5 miles - the sea breeze coming in off the water and you get near Boston
don't think that will happen this year with the earlier start.
in my 13 trips, there have been 2 strong tail wind years - the perfect conditions of 1994 and the heat wave of 2004
there has been a strong head wind only one year - 1997, i think.
but there has been at least some headwind at the end most years

Most of the course is fairly sheltered by trees and buildings from the wind. Tuck in behind a big guy!
2003 Vegas was nasty windy, gusts of 50mph, in the desert!
THe last few miles are a bit breezy at Boston.
I am going to miss it, you guys are making me really sad.
My favorite spot on the course is when you pass that big clock tower building on the left...
I also like the bar you run by at like mile 2, there are always bikers out drinking.
And when you go through BC or BU and they are trying to hand out beer.
If you aren't trying to PR, definitely grab a beer at this point, it is int he last mile.
grabbed some beer at BU one year. i was recovering from knee surgery and just running for fun. the kids loved it - they were screaming like the Wellesley women...
it tasted great, but almost came back up...
remains one of my favorite Boston memories
