Could anyone tell me if they ever attempted to make a steeple??
We dont have one at our track and we dont have enough money to buy one, so I am planning on making one.

railroad ties, some large bolts. have a look at one. they would be rather easy to make. sick the shop boys on it. they get off on that kind of stuff.
carrie messner has a link somewhere out there on the world wide web about how to build one, but I can't find!!!!!
so let me know if you do...
your going to need one 6x6 or 8x8 (depending on if your stepping on it or hurdling it) cut to steeple length, two 6x6 for cut to height for legs feet and 5-6 12' 2x6 for bracing, feet etc (all weather treated) add a little black and white paint an your off. worked for my club anyway. if you have a welder on hand use the 6x6 for a top and then use tubing for the legs and square tubing for the feet. then you can drill holes and add a pin for adjusting to womens height. obviously you'll need wider tubing on the top and smaller on the bottom so that they can slide up and down on each other when adjusting. hope that helps. if you need more info i could probably take some measurments, but i assume you can figure that part out yourself.
oh yeah using steel tubing also makes it about 40lbs lighter and easier to move
Took me less than a minute.
no my friend...I searched that site last night. Those are the dimensions of the regular track steeples that can be purches...somewhere she has a site telling how to build one that is much smaller that can be moved around by one person. If you continued to search the site, you would have found dimensions for the water barrier too...
She mentions it here but doesn't go into detail. I think she used a sawhorse for the legs though.
yeah, she emailed me that is how I know she has a site. I emailed her asking her what the site was...so I will post it when I find out.
