I agree. Email them yourself if you have something special to say. Oh how you doth protest too much, my dear...Shakespear Let's run and talk about runnin'
Well it was shortly after I posted that I thought that whoever used Brandons name and background in a somewhat embarrassing situation on the internet was crazy or brandon was crazy for letting this person do so, that the thread was deleted. So that person must be the one getting the threads deleted, and since I already feel that this person might also be the contact and have questionable judgement and agenda, why would I contact them?
Bobby Gordon is who had the thread pulled. He hates when his shady reputation is brought up.
If you are interested in contacting Brandon, you could e-mail me, and I'd be happy to try to connect the two of you.
Well since your quoting Shakespeare on me, i'll put a lil spin on good ol' Will myself and say something to the effect that "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark, and it has nothing to do with brandon's feet" And might have something to do with the Paternal instincts that Non Natives adopt when they decide they want to save Native Americans and they start trying to eliminate the people (especially the Native Americans) that helped get them to where they are at now or before, instead of working together for the greater cause.....
here is one example that might help the greater cause, Navajo Elite is a cool name, especially if you are Navajo, but Native Americans are very Tribal and getting funding streams through another Tribal entity might become a problem, like for example the Navajo tribe is the largest Tribe therfore their funding gets spread out and spent just by sheer volume they have other things that they might deem more important than to fund an Elite running program, Now you approach another tribe (Like a gaming tribe)with more revenues at their disposal and a smaller tribal enrollment with "Navajo Elite" and it does not make sense for that tribe to sponsor the "Navajo Elite" when they themselves are not Navajo....unless of course you are only looking for the majority of your funding to come from Navajo associated funds....I would go about it as a wholly Native American venture instead of a tribal venture and increase your chances(play the numbers game) I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, but i have been around the block a few times....
you might have to hide this topic under a bash George Bush topic and it will never be deleted as it appears that a loving firewater Indian has more pull than our commander in chief.
Its good to know that a sponsor would care enough about an athlete to take the time to post and defend an athlete. As for the person with the firewater crack, come on you couldn't come up with something better or at least more original??? Here's something to think about that is slightly ironic, an indiginous plant(tobacco) that Native Americans have held sacred to pray and conduct ceromonies is one of the leading causes of death in White America??? actually kinda spooky if you really think about it...
I don't know anything about this topic but I think Luv the game is venting about the fact some very high level people, runners included, can get laid out on this site and when it comes to some threads that are not as direct or degrading they get deleted. Just my take on it. Also it is a good thing I don't smoke.
I was wondering if this would pop up again. Maybe with Wojo leaving for Kenya it might just last a while. I think some doushbag dude on the last thread called me out on my own drinking habits. Ha. You don't have to drink to know who does in the tiny town of Alamosa dude. And the issue is that it has been part of a problem from Leslie since high school. But he wants to make it appear as if he is this straight lace guy who does no wrong. When he was finishing at Adams he could have been sending some of that money home to his family instead of eating out every night and wasting it on his social activities but he wouldn't. I was always told family comes first with Indians but not with Leslie it was albout him first others later. He had a good funding source training for the trials and that didn't matter he still wasted it away. For all that has been told nothing has changed but he still wants a free meal.
at Adams we view every runner past and present as family, thus, the Adams family. In following many of the talented runners that have come through our sacred doors there are those traits that are displayed that show the potential for success and those that don't. Brandon did a great job as a runner for Adams but there is something that also seems to shine true. Just so we compare apples to apples, we will look at the other Indian runners that have been at Adams. When I think of Phillip Castillo and Dominic "dom" Gauchipin, I see guys that worked hard, continued running after college and are fairly respected individuals in their commnunities. While they were at Adams they displayed class and dignity about their culture and followed that up in their social lives. On the other hand there is Jeff Turning Heart and Brandon Leslie. Both very talented but seem to have not had a handle on how to conduct their lives socially. That one element eventually was why Jeff eventually dropped out of school and as far as running was the end of his carrier. Now Brandon, who is seems to still be driven by this demon at times has kept running and at times his future looks bright. However, until he makes peace with this issue we may never ever get to see the full potential of what true runner lives inside of this guy.
i like what you have to say about Adams State and that program, but why are the Native American athletes being singled out for having or not having proper social conduct. as i am sure there are or were non Native American athletes that did not pan out athletically or socially at Adams state or any other college for that matter.....
Maybe because this is a Brandon Leslie thread, which you started by the way, and Brandon just happens to be Indian?
This is to both you and AdamsStater. Now I know why they say the degrees at Adams are not worth a damn. The original post was about the different approaches between how Brandon Leslie protrays himself as not having a fair break and can't focus on being a world class runner because he has no funding, compared to another runner who just gets up and trains @ 6:00am; then works; and then trains again in the evening and makes no complaints about it. It didn't have anything to do with how much he does or does not drink. You guys should have went to Western!!!
Thanks for the heads up there Britney???!!!??? Hey since your in and out of rehab lately maybe you can add some insight and help "save" Brandon...maybe I read your name wrong tho and your a navy seal, but I am sure you meant oops and not opps???!!??
Oddly somebody already has that registered name. Brandon needs to save himself first from himself. He is his worst enemy. He hasn't been honest with himself or pretty much anybody else. He wants money that the big dogs get yet won't pay the same price. Maybe he don't know how, I don't know. Maybe he don't know how to find out how, I don't know. It appears he is weaving when he should be ducking. He goes up when he should be down. How he was running last year should have been fuel to feed off of to run well not make excuses and then blame others for not understanding. When he gets that in order things will come to him. Like they say on the farm. You have to nurture the tit if you want any milk.
Hey old ndn runna: You sure sound like Maurice or Donny from "the day" in Albuquerque or Grants/Gallup. If it is either of you fast cats come on back to N.M. when you get the chance. Whole lot of runnin' going on with The Mighty Q.
good to hear from ya mighty Q!! Well you narrowed it down real well as far as who I am... i would be Donny, rather than Mo, hope things are going well for you, are you still in Grants? Another poster on here I think thought I was somebody else with ABQ ties, much closer to Brandon, that had some sour Grapes, but thats her bad for the misjudgement(seems to be a theme or tendency with Her)....As Britney(opps) said and I agree this should be fuel for Brandon, kinda bulletin board material to get through those hard workouts he needs to be doin'.... The sponsors will be lined up(Especially Native American sponsors, they are ready willing and able) if Brandon plays the game... he should also consider who he has represent him when he does approach Native American sponsors, For example, in theory, back in the day, would Muhammad Ali have sent a Non African American to the Nation of Islam as his rep and got anything done????....
old ndn runna: Awesome to hear from you,D! I'm still in Grants and am helping in the coaching of another generation of high-altitude native runners. Man, D, you are hitting the nail right on the head with advice for Brandon and other native athletes. The young guys and gals would do well to listen to ones who have "been there, done that". Mary and I have two daughters now who are showing an interest in our great sport and still have a hard time believing just how fast other generations were before them. Ha! That's what is so great about the internet (and this site specifically). Olympians and trials finalists giving advice to the unknowing is mind-blowing to my students when they find out just who visits this site! Thanks for sharing your experience, but I STILL hate the idea of getting ripped by your kick on the track and during training!!
Man, we had great times and memories. Thanks my friend.
