....got to talking about runners who like to strike up casual conversations during a race. I mean, really, you're focused on your breathing and pacing, and some stranger turns to you and says, "So how's it going/" Whatsup with that?!"
SO, 1970 I'm running a X-C race in Vancouver, B.C. and this guy catches up to me & asks if he can run with me.....so four miles into 1973 Seaside Marathon B.S. was relating how this guy turns to C.T. and says, "We're passing 4 miles when are you going to quit?".....so 2 miles into the inaugural Comox Valley, Vancouver Island 20 km I hear, "Heyyy C.J., taking it out a little hard aren't you?"
We are at the start line for one of those old Royal Roads X-C/road races; seconds before we go...this guy (I remember him from his high school days) asks me how much training I did this week & am I in shape? Sheesh....
