There will be more than three people in the race. Don't worry about that.

I seriously doubt Mottram is going to beat Lagat in a mile indoors or out; I would be suprised if Mottram breaks 4:00. Although, being that '07 is a championship year, it is difficult to know where this race fits into anyone's training schedule and Lagat is probably somewhere in his base period.
nick symmonds should run millrose- hes in as good shape as those guys and hes not too tall so a short track with tight turns wouldnt be too bad for him
if anyone has his number, call him and tell him that he should run it
Judge for yourself if Bernard can speak English well.

wow. much better than when i heard him speak in early 05'.
the longer you are around a culture, the better you speak/understand their language.
when i was in middle school, we had a girl from london come to our school; i believe because her dad was in the military. we could hardly understand her, but 3 or 4 years later, she speaks very clearly and you can bearly tell that she wasnt born and raised here. i believe it is how the ear receives sound, and how the mouth/brain wants to process that sound. its a part of adaptation to your surroundings.
I'm telling you, it's an act!
....ever!

I agree with you. The430miler is either totally idiotic or a completely made up character.
kip doesn't sound any different now than he did in "early '05."
Are you kidding me? There are people who still think the430miler's posts are legit?
Every single thing about him, every post he makes, points in one direction... troll! Look at his handle for God's sake... the430miler? That is probably the dumbest screenname in history. I might make my own trolling SN: the1711fivekguy. He never defends himself from attacks that he is a troll. Put two and two and two and two and two together!
I don't get most American distance runners or distance fans.

Webb will not be in great condition. He is probably aiming to have good performances in the summer, period. Lagat and Mottram might be in fair shape for a decent race.
By the statement above it makes it sound like Lagat & Mottram are gearing up to run fast indoors while Webb is building through indoor yet - A runner like Lagat & Mottram may very well beat Webb at Millrose and then go on to beat him in outdoor.
My point is - why are Americans always blowing off indoor, blowing off World XC, blowing off early outdoor meets to buils to something - then they get beat by the same people who were running all those things.
Time and time again I have heard American xc runners saying they are not going to World XC since they want to get ready for outdoor. Then when outdoor season somes the Ethiopian and Kenyan runners who did well at Worlds are winning and setting records(ahead of the Americans) on the track.
I have a hard time believing that Mottram won't break 4:00. For a guy who has run 3:48 before, who has raced (and beat) Webb at the mile head to head, I just don't see him coming halfway around the globe to run a race he isn't prepared to win. I think Lagat will take it, but I think Mottram wouldn't come if he didn't think he would be in contention. Webb... we'll see. It is early, and he is obviously in pretty good shape to run a solo 3:59, but I'm not sure he is in his top form right now
My Predictions(or, to be more accurate, guesses):
Lagat- 3:53.8 beating Mottram inside the last 500m
Mottram- 3:54.2, getting outkicked
Webb- 3:55.5, running on Mottram's shoulder, but falling back a bit over the last 2 laps.
Mottrams biggest trouble at Millrose will be the turns of course. That is what could stop him from running fast, he doenst know how to run that tiny ass track
Folks should look at a couple of recent Millrose results and see how much Lagat won by... my memory is that it was at least by six seconds in his last two Wanamaker Miles there, and that includes one against Bekele and Webb.
It's an extremely slow track. Extremely. Somehow, Lagat has mastered it like no one else in the elite ranks right now. If, on February 2, he doesn't want the mile to be close, it won't be close.
Add 4 seconds to an athlete's best for the mile over a standard 200 meter banked indoor track time.
prediction
Lagat 3:54-3:55 as needed
Webb 3:58
Mottram 4:01 if he's lucky

Those times are a little optimistic and part of Mottram's problem will be the track. There is an art to running on 180 banked boards.
1. Lagat 3:52
2. Webb 3:53
3. Mottram 3:53.2
It's not going to be that close. Webb and Mottram can't run those kinds of tiems on the Millrose track.
Anyone else think this is a more epic match up than Lagat vs. Bekele? and I agree that Lagat speaks English very well. An accent and bad English are two different things.
I think Tergat would win if he was there.

oh really?? why do you say that??
and for all you tergat/goat haters out there, heres one more little fact that prooves the tergat (goat) has greater range than anybody in history.....
10/08/1996- paul tergat runs 7:28 for 3,000meters. his mile split during this race was 3:58.1 !!!!!
the goat isnt even a miler, yet he ran a 3:58 split during a 3k race.
