Ethiopian athletes clean in IAAF Doping Tests
3 January 2007 - All eighteen Ethiopian athletes in the IAAF Doping Testing Pool have registered no positive results after a year-round testing.
Announcing the results, Dr. Ayalew Tilahun, head of the programme, said that Ethiopians should be proud of their athletes who continue to stay away from illegal use of performance-enhancing substances. “Although it is not publicized often, Ethiopian runners has continued to demonstrate that natural talent and serious training produce big results without the use of banned substances.”
Dr. Ayalew stressed that the Federation will continue to develop its program to educate both its coaches and athletes. “We want to strengthen our program and teach our athletes about the types of illegal substances and their causes and how they can stay away from them.”
Both Out-of-Competition Tests (OCT) and In-Competition Tests (ICT) have been administered on Ethiopian athletes in the testing pool.
