Just found this out this morning. It seems that the university used the same "test" as JMU and found themselves to not be compliant with Title IX. Here's the link: http://news.clarion.edu/News/10964.html

This makes me f***ing sick.
In what kind of world do we live where it is fine to strip something from someone in order to make things appear fair.
"These kids are leaders on our campus..."
"They did nothing to bring this on themselves..."
Oh shut up.
In no alternate universe is this anywhere close to fair and equal.
How about opening up some opportunities for women instead of closing opportunities for men?

While the spirit of Title IX is laudable, the interpretation and application of compliance standards has been seriously flawed. It is a great disappointment that the courts haven't either resolved this or declared the whole statute unconstitutional and forced the government to legislate a more constitutional law.
What universities aren't giving enough athletic opportunities to women? The fact is that women's sports are WAY undersubscribed. There are countless examples of colleges creating women's teams just to get into compliance, even though there was no real interest among the female student body to participate in said sport. For example, University of Arizona created a women's crew team, even though they had to travel quite a distance to even find a place to row. In the first iteration women made the team by just turning up to the meeting. Scholarships were handed out to women who were in no way 'good athletes'. It is a joke. Universities either have to create women's teams that no one cares about and waste money supporting them, or they have to cut men's programs to get into compliance.
I am the father of two athletic daughters. I fully support equal opportunity for girls in sports. But we all need to step back and take a more reasonable approach to this.
How is the time for people to chime in and say: "the problem isn't women's sports, it is football"
I guess the AD is a little mistaken in his reasons.
