See, even the vaunted 1983 Americans couldn't put a dent in the Kenyan armor of 2006.
Plus, we have to figure that in that 1983 American group, about 100 of the 230 or so that went sub-2:20 would have really been over 2:20 due to paleolithic-era measuring techniques.

i believe that i read somewhere that 57 different runners did it but dont quote me on that
