Anyone...ever? Wasn't Carlos Lopez in his 30s when he won the Olympic Marathon? I think it's generally accepted that marathoners can PR up until their mid/late 30s.

I guess it depends on how good your PRs were from your 20's. I have accepted the fact that I will never run as fast as I did in college. It stinks, but I have my PRs and I have my "Best as of Late" races.
I PR'd at 10 miles this year (36). I plan to set a few more next year. But I'm slow by LetsRun standards.
i ran my best at a couple of distance at age 32, while the other distances i ran from 5k to half marathon stayed about the same from age 23-37

Lopes ran a WR in the marathon (obviously a PR!) a year after his LA Olympic win. He was 37 when he won in LA, 37 or 38 when he won World Cross the next winter (I don't know whether the race was before or after his birthday), and 38 when he set the world record.
Priscilla Welch (born 1944) started very late (35) as a runner and produced some excellent performances (PB at 42)and is still no 4 on UK all-time list.
Lopes ran his best ever 10k at age 37. Shortly before the LA Olympics in 84. It was in a race where his teammate (famous headcase Fernando Mamede) set the world record, Lopes was just a few seconds back and also broke the previous world record. I believe the record they broke was Rono's but I'm not positive.
Tergat?
No one seems to know his age for sure, but Miruts Yifter was likely in his late '30's (and possibly early 40's) when he won double gold in Moscow.
And of course, Jack Foster PRed in his early '40's (including 2:11 marathon) after taking up running in his mid-30's.
