NAIA is great...its so fast..im serious when i say i think VIC couldve won nats in d1...seriously...they were so deep...and I think if u put david cheromei in d1 he would also win no problem
Hey guys I dont even know wat the NAIA is. Do you think they would really be able to beat d1? I am a good miler in high school(4:11)and was definitely thinking d1 but since I read this im thinking maybe going to VIC or another NAIA school.
There were some great sub-4 milers back in the late 60's and early 70's, Check out a runner named Tommy Fulton from Texas Southern. He wore about two pounds of jewlery while running 3:57!!!
Sawe broke 4? They were the shit back in the day. Remember when they tried winning the national title with all distance runners and made a couple of guys try the race walk for points? It was classic....they were all DQ'd w/in the first mile.
this board is dripping sarcasm, the only thing funnier than which is those poor confused few who think those posts are serious...and yes there have been sub 4 milers fom NAIA schools (NOT SARCASM)

Lindenwood had three athletes go on to run sub-4....albeit after they left LU.
Sharif Karie - Arkansas
Gezachew Yossef - Texas Tech
Brashar Ibrahim - UTEP
Gez and Brashar did however run sub 3:44 while they were both at Lindenwood. I think the fastest Sharif ever ran at LU was 3:48 1500 and 4:07 mile (when he won the NAIA Indoor Mile in 1998).
I put the Lindenwood stats I have back up at
http://www.lutrackunderground.com/statistics.phpIf I am missing anything let me know. None of the coaches ever kept good records, and not that many results from the late 90s were online.
This years sub 4 milers might be:
Aron Rono
Dan Roberts
Julius Rono
Derek Scott
Noah Tu?
david cheromei is trying sub 4 and he ran 4:05 beginning of cc season. so he might actually do it
You should consider a community college they have the most depth.
Yea Dennis Savage is the man, he ran 4:01 for westmont back in the day. Even greater person than runner.
A 3:44.87 conversion makes no sense at all. Even if you extrapilate tat 1500 meter time the the mile at 1609.3m you get 4:01.26. That is assuming the same pace is continued for the final 109.3 meters. Common sense and experience of anyone who has ever ran a mile of 1500m can argue that makes no sense at all
4:00 for the mile = 3:42.5 1500m
Tommy Fulton, Texas Southern, 1973 NAIA championships in an exciting duel with Mike Boit of ENMU. (he might have been one of the first African-Americans to break 4 minutes...not sure about that..there was Dennis Fikes, Reggie McCefee among others there around 1973).
John Mason, Fort Hays State in the late 60's, early 70s.
David Rotich last year who ran for Spring Arbor 2002 to 05 now at Iowa State. He also got second place at NCAA Indoor nationals last year in the mile.
you couldnt go to VIC because they don't let americans on the team- you have to be a foreign transplant
just check VIC and talk to the coach b4 considering other schools. they have solid distance squad and descent American runners too. ughh i know i'm gonna start a whole new bashing against VI now but check the system and don't judge it from letsrun
Colin Sahlman runs 1:45 and Nico Young runs 1:47 in the 800m tonight at the Desert Heat Classic
Molly Seidel Fails To Debut As An Ultra Runner After Running A Road Marathon The Week Before
Megan Keith (14:43) DESTROYS Parker Valby's 5000 PB in Shanghai
Hallowed sub-16 barrier finally falls - 3 teams led by Villanova's 15:51.91 do it at Penn Relays!!!
