I am curious about getting some input. I just did Philly & I am torn between getting in shape and focusing on pr\'ing in some shorter races(5k, 10k, etc) or jumping back into the heavy load and train seriously for boston! I was set on getting my speed up & doing shorter stuff but I am looking at possibly some big changes in the next year or so (changing jobs, moving(possibly buying a house) getting married after next year or so etc. I feel the window of training seriously for a marathon is closing, especially for Boston. I currently have a semiflexible job & It is my theory that all the demands of the above will cut seriously into my training time so I should get it in while I can. That is why I am leaning on working my milage back up to the 90\'s/100\'s in the two month or so and try and break 2:30 at Boston, and accomplish two of my marathon goals sub 230 and doing well at Boston(ran in 2004 but blew up in the 80 deg. heat, don\'t even remember much of it) I feel like I have recovered nicely from philly and can start increasing my milage. Any thoughts from those who have been through similiar?
