Did someone actually type "nobody can touch Cabada in the longer distances?" Did I really see that?
Just for starters, does the name "Abdi" come to mind?

Is the same not true of Ritz?

Sometimes brevity speaks volumes brother. With that short and to the point answer, it shows how much time should be devoted to talking about whether or not Cabada is as good as Ritz.
Once again:
Q: Is Cabada better than Ritz?
A: No.

if you were my brother, odds are i'd be a fat, bald out-of-shape suburbanite. oh, and i would have a payne in the ass sibling. i'm happy to report that's not the case.
cabada now has a faster marathon PR than ritz. FACT.

So does Pete Gilmore and Bud Coates and tons of other good but not great runners. Doesn't mean they are better than Ritz...just currently faster at the marathon distance. One try at the marathon for Ritz does not a definition make.
Ritz is better. I don't plan to have a big conversation with you about this, so rebut if you must, but it's a very uninteresting topic for me as I don't see Cabada anywhere NEAR Ritz's talent level, so it seems pointless to spend the time making the case for Ritz. Ramaala knows who Ritz is. He has no idea who Cabada is.
Sure Ramaala doesn't know who Cabada is, just think, where was Cabada at 2 years from now? Where was Ritz at 2 years from now? Exactly Ritz was doing big things and Cabada, well he was running cross contry for Virginia INtermont in the NAIA doing average. I mean 2 years ago his PR's were sub 14:20 5k and 30:00 for the 10k and 24:30 for XC
Cabada is doing so awesome and he is IMPROVING way quicker then Ritz is. A couple of years ago would any of you think Cabada would be doing the things he is doing now? I thought so. He is on a def. come up and there is nothing anyone can do to stop him
I agree Cabada isn't a better runner then ritz, but he is a better marathoner. I do believe he will be passing up Ritz in the next year or two.

first you say that much time shouldn't be devoted to the question, then you take the time to make an argument. first you say it's an uninteresting topic, but then you take the time to post numerous messages about it.
if one marathon does not "a definition make" for ritz, then the same is true for cabada. who's to say cabada won't go sub 2:10 in his next effort?
who ramaala knows now is irrelevant (besides, he know ritz now because they raced against each other--duh.) who ramaala will know in the future is the question.
your assumption that ritz has more talent than cabada is just that--an assumption, which more than anything reveals your biases. (namely, that you would look real stupid if cabada goes on to have a better career than ritz.)
Choo choo chooooooo.... looks like the dumb argument train is running right on time...
I still don't understand the point of this thread, which seams to come up all the time. Is it because people just don't "respect" FC? Is it because people want to be credited with "calling out" that cabada is going to be anointed king of american distance in the next few years; and people want to have said it first, like an emo kid who talks about how he used to listen to a band before they were popular?
I just don't get it. I'm more pumped up by the fact that we have 2 guys this young running this well. Cabada is proving himself big time and improving his racing resume on a consistent basis. Ritz took a shot at running sub 2:10 and it bit him in the ass, but we should all be glad we've got guys out there making the attempt, guys like ritz, tegenkamp, webb, hall, dobson, and yes, I believe that cabada is becoming part of that group. Whats the point of trying to create a retarded rivalry. They're not Seb Coe and Ovett.
Lets be thankfull that our best marathoner isn't a solo Dehaven anymore (granted, dehaven rules, but when a 2:14 is your best guy... well... you know what I mean).
All also-rans.
"seems"
"Cabada"
"American"
"Ritz, Tegenkamp, Webb, Hall, Dobson,"
"Cabada"
"What's"
"rivalry?"
"Let's be thankful"
"Dehaven"
wow, that is annoying.
who cares about Ritz. sell is far far far better than cabada
Ritz would defeat Cabada head to head in any race from 5000m on up whether it's on the track, road, or cross. Probably the shorter ones too, but neither of them really run those so they're irrelevant to this discussion.
Has Cabada even finished ahead of any of the top Americans in a race?
What's your point?
I think it's funny when all the dorks come out of the woodworks to correct spelling and grammar when they can't add anything to a thread.
Go back to playing Dungeons and Dragons with the rest of your nerd kind, and leave the internet banter to people who contribute.

Not anymore! Cabada's morphed into a superstud, he's not the same runner he was even 6 months ago.
Cabada>Ritz
sell will blow both cabada and ritz away
If Ritz gets healthy and has a break through like Fernando did he is going to lap him in 10k on the track. I mean he is already better than him and how much more improvement do you expect to see from a guy who has improved phenominally already? Thats like saying just b/c someone ran a p.b. by a minute in the 10k you would expect him to shave another minute off his new 10k p.b. like a few months down the road.....likely not. They both are great runners all in all though.

Actually, it isn't like that at all.
Speculation is pointless. That is not real science, it's not even science at all per se. Cabada is better than Ritz at the marathon, regardless of the course. Just like Bob Kempainen is better than all those fools...He's even better than Abdi and Meb.
