where's he coaching?
UKentucky.
university of kentucky
Listen to him speak for a couple of minutes and you will know why he is such a good coach... He makes you believe
I am pretty sure his team took 17th at Regionals so he didn't get those boys to believe...He will be back at Mead before you know it. My bet is he lasts about as long at Kentucky as most of his former Mead athletes did in Divsision 1. When the going gets tough Mead alums bail.
Well that's just silly to say. How much do you know about Pat Tyson? Not that I do. But that just sounds mean to judge the guy based on a class he didn't recruit in his first year.
As of last week, the Kentucky website still had Pat listed as an assistant cross coach. Is this still correct or has he made the move up to the head coach position yet?
Maybe with Moos(UO AD) stepping down - Vinny L will move to that job and Tyson will go to UO
Back to the original question--anybody know if he's signed anybody at Kentucky? The guy is by all accounts a very dynamic personality and every kid who's ever talked to him at a camp loves him, so you'd think he'd be great at the recruiting business. Any signees of note?

The whole "I was Pre's roommate" shtick only works on little boys.
I was around Tyson a long time before I found out he was Pre's roommate. That's not how he motivates runners. I will be surprised if he doesn't have a competitive team in four years.
He got his ass kicked up and down the field by the boys up in Louisville. Tyson's got a long uphill battle trying to outrecruit UofL...they have signed tons of dudes, and now they're getting women too.
I'm not saying Tyson can't do it, but he's going to have a rough time.
Pat only talked about Pre if asked specifically about him.
According to Dyestat he didn't sign anyone early, but a lot of schools didn't.

Dear Chickenshit,
I know 4 Mead alumni that made it through the years at Oregon, and I'm willing to bet we faired better than you and your team has/will/did/dreamed of. You ever place 3rd, 7th or 5th at NCAA's? That was our last 3 years.
Do you blame your father for not teaching you to have confidence? Now that (I'm assuming here) you're out of your fathers house it's on you to be a man. Those things dangling 'tween your legs aren't for decoration.
If you're going to come out and attack Tyson so extravegantly, bring your balls and state your name. Have a little accountability for those accusations.
Tyson could've retired 8 years ago and he would still have had more success and positive impact in this world than most of us will in our lifetime.
Rob
To criticize a prominent coach in his first year with athletes that he didn't even recruit, not to mention his two broken feet, is to reveal what a shallow, jealous, bored bunch of junior high school kids that these purportedly credible runners on this thread are.
Both of these sites, the first the current roster of the men's & women's team and the second the actual bio of Tyson at UK, both refer to him as an assistant coach.
Which is he because everyone on here is making it sound as if he is the head coach.

First off, Mead's tradition and success will never be equaled or surpassed - not by York, or any other high quality program. Second, prep and collegiate are two different animals and you can't compare performances here to there or anywhere. Dameworth, a perfect example. third, if you ever had the privilege to meet Tyson, you would find him to be very inspirational and a scholar of the sport.
My guess is that you never amounted to anything get fired up posting anonymous contraries on Letsrun. Am I wrong?
Well take a look at this then talk about if Tyson is still trying to continue the Pre connection
