If someone is injured and will be doing pool workouts everyday for the next few weeks, should they eat less and watch there diet or will pool workouts burn enough energy?

In my experience, eat less or you will gain weight. But then again, there is no way I could ever force myself to poolrun as much time as I spend running so that's a big part of it
does anyone else have any input?
I have heard that being in the water for a long time makes your body produce more fat. Look at average swimers and average triathletes.
So in effort to keep your weight down you could watch what you eat more closely. On the other hand. When you get back to real running you'll adjust.
You usually put on more fat from the pool (i.e. swimming, tris) from the fact that the pool's cool temperatures usually stimulate hunger.
I have actually had a foot injury for quite some time and have been pool running in place of my actual runs. I have found two things very important. One is the effort you put forth in the pool. It's easy just to bob up and down and say you aqua ran, but you really didn't. The other thing is to do weight training, if your injury allows, to keep your muscles weight bearing. Everyday I spend 70 minutes in the pool. Usually 40 to 50 minutes aqua running and 20 to 30 minutes swimming, totaling 70. Then I do 30 to 45 minutes of weights depending on how much time I have before I have to be at work. I have found that at times I actually eat a little more and weigh a little less. If you put forth the effort, you can burn a lot of calories in the pool. Weight training also helps boost your metabolic rate.
so is it safe to say if i aqua jog for 45 minutes to an hour each day at a good effort and do some weight lifting and other cross training (mostly crunches, pull ups, push ups, some free weights) i should not have to worry too much.
i have tried to eat less the past few days but pool running seems to make me feel more hungry than normal running...if i make sure i watch what i eat (no fried foods, candy ect.) is it ok to eat about the same amount of calories a day that i did while i was running?
Swimming is a better fat burner than running, if you swim with vigor and energy.
Also the distance you swim should be multiplied by 4 to find the equivalent running distance....example if you swim for 2km, that would be equal to an 8km run (5 miles).
Last year I swam 2km a day breastroke when teaching in Taiwan....it took me about 50 minutes time to do the distance...and my weight stayed down.....more than with running.
coach:
Why don't you cross train on the bike.
