Actually, Jacqueline Gareau won in 1980 (the year of Rosie Ruiz).

Does anyone know if Bruce Raymer is related to the Bob Raymer who was a member of the East York Track Club in the 1960s?
What about Nick Sunseri? Is he planning on moving up to the marathon any time soon?
A middle distance runner?

2) I note with bemused interest that Pacific Athletics season-end Celebration
has been postponed until December 3rd .... exactly 1 day after National Cross-
Country Championships Gawd certainly works in mysterious ways....
3) Not that I should feel able to care about Pacific Athletics....
It's not as if:
a) I carried Distance Running at Uvic and in Victoria and in BC on my shoulders
from 1978 onwards, with help coming on board of course.
b) I was THE person who took it to the media in 1986 ---- suggesting that
Victoria could and should host the 1994 Commonwealth Games.
c) I was inside the Circle of guys who were keen to have a National Sport Centre,
as a legacy of 1994. My "brother" Ken Shields was the leader of that Initiative.
d) I led the charge to have Athletics included as one of the Key Sports included in
that Centre, with lots of help of course.
e) After the sport of Athletics was rejected, I led the charge to have Distance Running
included in the Centre. With lots of help of course.
And we were finally accepted...
f) And then some other stuff happened - Last Supper - 12 disciples - one not so
loyal kind of stuff ..... later, but not much, on that one...
g) So, I think I can care about how Pacific Athletics is doing ..... I believe that my
Blood, Sweat and Tears have earned me that right...
By the way,
I have spent time with Coe's Coach, and Cram's Coach, and Cruz's Coach, and Ovett's
Coach, and Snell's Coach, and with Johnnie Walker and Steve Scott, and I have met Coe
(in an elevator at the Meet Hotel, just after his WR 2:12.88 in Oslo), and Cram (at a Golf Tournament at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh), and Sammie Koskei (he ran Victoria 2 or 3 times in the good old days - he became very good "friends" with Robyn Meagher who I was coaching at that time) and many others at or near that level...
So, my point is, I'm old - be kind and gentle, if I have to shovel much more snow, this
just may be my last post
CGP,
I have no idea why you insist on bumping up this dead-end
thread, under whatever you choose to call yourself at
any given moment. What does your Therapist say about
this weird stuff.... Please get help...
Skuj,
What you say, under all of your various manic pseudonyms,
is obviously coming from a very disturbed individual.
Which is fine, as long as you realize that every post is making the bed that you will lie in for a long time..
Take a second before you post again, and think about
eternity, and where you want to spend it, and how you
wish to feel about yourself while lying there...
I hope you can find Peace within yourselves...
Towards the Weekend at Jericho .... and Sacramento
and Fukuoka...
I hope all athletes are able to get on the Start Lines
and feel healthy and hungry, and give it up at the
right time and in the right way, for you, on the
day...
Hey...
looks like it's still going somewhere
hey
Ralph Walker!

Looks as though I'll be forced to post at letsrun in order to defend myself against Ron Bowker.
Wrong again, Ron.
Those who you threaten ("soon you will all know" "the truth will soon be revealed") have been alerted and are watching closely. They've seen what you have written about me.
Goodbye.....until the next time I am publicly trashed....
This thread is lagging behind the Fleet Feet bashing thread.
A little more sniping, please...

ronb you told us you wouldn't be posting on letsrun anymore. Why are you back?
skuj, please do the same.
You people make me embarrased to be in the sport of running on vancouver island.
get over yourselves and go back to the dark ages... before online posting.
I hope you both take the trip across the lake this weekend for nationals and sort your difficulties out like normal big-boys. The running community on the island is big, but not that big; you can't ignore one another in person and slander one another on letsrun forever.
PLEASE stop posting, and stop BUMPING THIS THREAD

I feel your pain, really I do. I want to leave letsrun, but attacks on my personality must be responded to. Many people out there feel that Ron's Truth is The Truth. It isn't.
I agree....it's all very embarrassing. I suspect the slander will continue, and I'll respond when I'm personally attacked, but I will endeavor to ignore Ron in person forever, especially after this last week.
Your post bumped this thread. :)
Cheers
Darren Skuja
