Opinoins?
Opinoins?
Spell opinions right dumbass
they ran a pretty amazing race, how the hell did they pull that off?
midway through the season they looked like a pretty decent team that could finish top 15 at nationals on a good day
but to take 3rd is sick
Yea they ran super well. Everything must have clicked at once. They got 3rd and I see that the Mourer kid and the Corkins kid did not even run their best races. They would never have caught Calvin but NYU might have been in reach if they ran where they could have been.
i think the word you are looking for is "fluke."

Maybe...but they still ran awesome as a reletively unknown team.
what impressed the most was dozzi in 23rd. I'm pretty sure he's been nothing more than a 1540 guy for the past 3 years
I don't think so. You either put in the training or you didn't. Running=no flukes.
yeah they may not have ran their best races, but seriously, how many teams had 5 guys run their best races. im sure there could have been other teams finish 3rd if all 5 of their runners had their best races. there is no way of knowing who had their best races anywsays, because the conditions through things off.
they ran over their heads to begin with, they werent anywhere near NYU, 120 points is alot, so just be happy with that, dont give yourself some false sense of couldawouldashoulda. NYU had a few guys run a bit off their best, ex: williams 3rd to kaul and finnegan in october, was 29th instead of top 15 like he should have been.Calvin and NYU are/were the best two teams in D3 this year, hands down.

normally I'd agree, especially on a track, but that mud tore up some teams that day like I've never seen before. I think my team did better that we expected (top 10) and we had 2 guys run good and 1 guy did okay but we expected him to place better, the rest of us sucked bad. Bad being high 28's and slower. One of my teammates put it best when he said that was less like a race and more like a most extreme elimination challenge. I mean depending on your stride, your build, what kind of runner you were really effected your finish. Basically we ran crappy but a whole lot of other teams ran even crappier giving us a good result. I don't expect alleghany to be a factor next year on a dry course whatsoever.

Wow, you're right...Allegheny just happens to have 5 guys that are completely awesome at running in mud and every team that they beat has 5 guys who totally suck at it. I can't believe I didn't realize that. They might as well just give back their trophy.
I can't wait to see the excuses people give next year. Sore, sore losers.
The mud effected everyone, it may have been an advantage to the stronger runners. Allegheny came into the race with everything to gain and nothing to lose. They didn't let the course conditions get into their heads and gutted out a great race. Having 2 all americans is no fluke. Give them credit. As for next year, they are only losing one of their top nine, their top freshmen from last year will be back in the spring and there is some very good prospects for the incoming class.
well said
Those guys are tough and they ran tough. And not to take anything away from them but they obviously got a little lucky too.
They are pretty much Gonzaga.

yeah, not real sure how that's "obvious"...you mean because they were grossly and unfairly underrated leading up to the race?
No they should keep the trophy. That day they ran tougher than every team in the nation except two and they brought it when it was all on the line. They obviously run excellantly in mud, but what I'm saying is that on a normal course I think there is a lot of teams that have guys that can cover ground faster than theirs can. I'm not a sore loser, hell they were ranked in front of my team, they were suppose to beat me.
I should probably mention that DublAK2 is also my handle so you understand what I just said.

...and what I'm saying is that you have no evidence to support that claim.
