Wow one guy runs decent off a ton of mileage and the rest suck. Get off the jocks. No one outside of the U.S. cares

This is a very well thought out thread. You start a thread talking about what you hate people talking about? If you think these guys are overhyped then why do you start a thread about them?
I liked the earlier stuff.
MMMM....BOPPP!

They will when they go 1-2-3 in 2008 Olympic Games, baby!
personally I like what the Hansons are doing more and more each time I hear about them. They don't have big contracts, they all work together as a team, and the coaches do it for the love of the sport.
I didn't like them at first when I competed against them but I realize just how great of a setup and how hard those guys work now and appreciate what they are doing.
If every country that couldn't compete against the Kenyans just gave up there wouldn't be that many countries competing anymore would there?
The Hansons do so much racing in Chicago that we almost consider them our own. Maybe no one in New York cares but in Chicago we love the Hansons. Good luck this weekend to all of you. We will certainly be out cheering with all of the High School team.
They're now referred to as th Handsome Hansons:

Then don't listen. Sounds like your problem.
If others were so involved in the grass roots promotion of the sport then you'd probably hear about them as well...
Eduardo will probably beat Sell this weekend and Jason will beat Verran. The Hansons are a cute cuddly little story with no real runners. They will have a good outing if 3 or 4 guys run under 2:20. I think it is great that guys like the Hansons are willing to throw their money away. As long as the welfare system is available how about sending a little cash out here to where you may receive a little bit of return on investment.
Send us more 2:13 marathoners!
People who think the Hanson's group isn't doing great things for our sport are absolutely insane. Hanson's is the only true developement group in the American Distance running society. I'm so sick and tired of people blowing up Mary Whitenwhatever, the B.A.A., and USATF as helping this resurgence in American Running. The fact of the matter is that nothing these groups have done has helped progress American Distance Running, its merely helped maintain it.
Here you have the NYRRC giving all this money to the Mammoth Lakes group, great, give it to a bunch of guys with lucrative shoe contracts who already make plenty off of endorsements, appearance fees, and race winnings. How on earth does paying more money to Meb improve our quantity of better distance running. How does paying for Ryan Hall, Alan Webb, Abdi, and the rest of the best in the states to train help any of the true "developement" runners. It doesn't.
Does it help them maintain the lifestyle they've come to love? Yes. Does it help them continue to perform at a high level? Yes. Can they do it without the extra funding from the NYRRC, B.B.A., and USATF? Yes.
Groups like Hansons are taking guys who don't have the funds, the coaching, or the opportunity to pursue being a profesional, and giving them a chance. Thats true developement, not maintenance. Another great example of giving guys an opportunity to race is the Wisconsin Runner team. They aren't as monetarily fit as the Hanson group, but they're director Pete Henkes is always helping his guys get to races and give them opportunities that other groups would not.
So bash Hansons if you want to, the point is, they don't have any super stars (aside from sell), but thats the point, they're too busy trying make them, instead of proping up something they didn't have anything to do with.
Developement programs in our sport are a joke. Plain and simple.
There are several forms of development. One is taking guys that suck (like the Hansons) and making them respectable. The other is what I do. I take guys that are top level coming out of college and umm uhhh ummm......Never mind.
NYRR does it to increase the prestige of NYCM, really, no other reason. Look at the trials next year- good for NYC- not so good for runners in general.
It's all about NYCM in the end.
I am not sure that the Hansons are throwing any money away anymore. I think they have sponsors to do that. I would gladly take the bet of Sell v. Torres. And I would put the line at least 6 Hansons under 2:20. That would be my Vegas line.If you have the guts to bash under your real name maybe we can set up a bet.

Anyone that is familiar with marathoning knows that Sell is a favorite vs Torres. I hope most people see this.

Yeah...2:10 at Boston after never breaking 10 in a 3200 and beating Culpepper en route. So...totally..."decent." You ever get tired of pretending to be an egocentric, elite kenyan runner? I'm pretty sure they are acknowledged and highly praised in the running community for taking guys and putting them through good, old fashioned, hard and HONEST work to acheive high results...and I'm pretty sure an elit "kenyan DOMINATORRRR" would have enough wisdom from what work his OWN training took, to have a little more respect for people and groups like the Hansons.
yeah f*** kenyan...hanson's are avg joes getting done.

The same could be said about the Kenyans... I'm so sick of hearing about how they drink tea, run to and from school when they're little, work in groups, run ass slow at beginning of runs, give eachother handies, run on dirt, and I could go on and on and on.
Man, a few guys run decent and the rest of the country sucks. No one cares.
I like the Hansons and I love what there doing. I also support American Post Graduate distance running and so should you.
It's also inspiring how a high shcool 10 minute 2 miler can make a name for himself in distance running with hard work and like Zatopek once said "To be a great runner you need to dream a little bit".
Brush off the haters and keep doing yo thang.
