Atantic Region XC - D3

It is common knowledge that the course for regionals in 2003 was short, the mix up coming in the last 800 meters when the wrong sign was used as a turning point to cross the road and head back towards the finish. The legit course used at the geneseo invite that year was the correct distance.

And to add to this the course is completly different now from then. The start and finish have both been moved to a completly different field a half mile away and the puddles you speak of are no longer involved

its a cool idea but with someting like 30-35 teams running its hard to believe it could ever happen. Bport has numerous guys all capable, slu and ithaca as well, uofr will certainly put 2nd man infront of tcnj's 5th i would think along with all those previous teams putting at least one. Oneonta and platts #2 also. I go out on a limb and say no way...

I think TCNJ will surprise some people this weekend, they had a terribly slow start to their season but look for their guys to step up and be in the mix

If the top three are Cortland, NYU, Geneseo in any order, than CNJ and RIT, the Atlantic region will get 5 teams. Almost no doubt about it. Now if CNJ is 5th, it is a toss up.

2 per region is 16. 16 left

South done, 7 regions left

ALl third place teams in. 9 left

West done. 6 regions left

All fourth place teams in, 3 teams left

Mid East, New England done.

Midwest, Atlantic leading candidates for 5th team.

The only monkey wrench in all this is if one of the Atlantic top 5 teams have an off day.

the course sucked in 2003, The course at letchworth blows, run on the grass along side a road, cross the road. There are so many other, better courses to run at in this region. Not sure why coaches keep going back there, my guess is no one else wants to host it.

It is funny how people just count John Phillips out from NYU, 25:20's at Van Cortlandt, 3rd in their conference, and has been with Williams all season.

I think Williams will be NYU's #1 runner at regionals finishing third with Abadallah a few seconds behind coming in eighth over all. I previously predicted NYU's third runner finishing 15th overall, which realistically could be any where from 4-10 seconds back from Abdallah, which means Phillips would be anywhere from about 10-20 seconds from Williams (mayber even closer), this is a very realistic possibility, and it is only a prediction, its not disrepecting anyone, its just a prediction. Finishing ten seconds apart from your teamate is still running with him, no matter which way you look at it, even if they are 12 places apart. If I was disrespecting anyone, it would have to be TCNJ's top 5, and as I have already mentioned, I have not really been following their season, so they could do much better than I predicted. They are only predictions, I am not disrespecting anyone. I wish all the teams in the Region the best of luck on Saturday, I will be there cheering everyone on.

I'd put Colin Sanders of Vassar in the top 20 easily, if not the top 10. The guy is overlooked cause of the jumps he's made from being a 28:00 8k runner a year ago to being a low-25 now.

where did he run low 25's? I just raced him sat. and if a few different things went my way.........hahaha it's all speculation now. No but seriously where and when and what are his times this year?

Actually, I should have said mid-25s. My bad. But he's run 25:40 a few times. And 26:06 at Williams is worth at least 30 seconds faster on a flat course.

Years back, the NESCAC schools were still not permitted to advance *teams* to NCAA competition. One year Williams had five women qualify *individually* for Nationals. They ran, and the Ephs got a team score.

Rule changes (to prevent a repetition of the situation) rapidly followed...

However, I believe Williams would have been the #1 team from its region that year. For a #5 team to do it? No way, I think. Wouldn't have happened even in last year's tri-meet at men's regionals.

The NJ schools are going to have a lot more to say about the outcome than people are giving them credit for, I'd say.

Is the course that Geneseo ran at this weekend the one that regionals was ran at 2 years ago? If it is those times that Geneseo ran are not very impressive. That course was pretty flat except for one really short hill you have to run twice... Did they not run all out?

This course is way different this year than two years ago. Plus two years ago the course was cut short, as already previously mentioned in other posts.

I give TCNJ a lot of credit, and I know they probably will do a lot better than what I previously predicted, but as I have mentioned, I have not followed them all that much this year, so they could do a lot better than I think. I do know that TCNJ has won something like the three out of the last four regionals, so they always come prepared. I also know that RIT has beaten TCNJ this year and I am predicting they will do it again at regionals. I also think NYU, Geneseo, and Cortland will beat RIT, so logic says that all four teams will beat TCNJ, but who knows, a lot can happen on race day, I cannot wait to see it! Was the course cut short? I remember running there, but I don't remember where the course went. That was the first race that they had the mile marker signs set up, and I don't think they have changed them since. What parts of the course were different?

if you are talking about the SLU course, the times are slower because the course was a frozen solid 2 years ago and this year it was very slow and sloppy through the grass areas...it was probably about 15 seconds slower than it was 2 years ago at regionals.

NYU will rock the team battle this weekend, nobody will be within 20 points in the 5 team battle royale.

I would put Nally or Cloke in top 4 along with Williamson. I don't think Stevens has done anything this year to merit a top 5 finish at regionals - 25:40's at Genessee Valley Park is not that impressive, but Williamson rolling on Stevens at States was. I agree that Deshane will most likely win.

I pick NYU men for the win, then a dogfight between Cortland and Geneseo.
