The women's side is definitely more interesting this year.
1. Sifan Hasaan- If she was able to recover fully from Sydney, I don't see her losing. 2:18 in Sydney without real competition, which is a hillier course than NYC, is already 4 minutes faster than the NYC course record. Lokedi and Obiri have shown they can run 2:17 on hills (Boston), but during their last matchup in Paris, Sifan ate them up.
2. - 3. Sharon Lokedi / Hellen Obiri- I see these 2 as rounding out the podium, I just don't know the order. Lokedi came away with a PB in 1:05 flat in September, so she seems to be in great form. After this momentum post her Boston win and course record in 2:17, I could see her edging out Hellen but I'm sure Hellen wants redemption after Boston.
4. - 6. Sheila Chepkirui / Gotytom Gebreslase / Emily Sisson - I think these 3 will be the next in some order after the podium. I think Chepkirui benefited in NYC last year from Obiri and Lokedi coming off of the Olympics so I don't see her repeating a win here. She hasn't been running particularly fast this year, although she won Nagoya. Notably, Sisson beat Chepkirui at the BAA 10K in June. Sisson also beat Gebreslase (and Obiri!) at the Great Manchester Run in May. So Although Sisson hasn't had a great half this year, she seems to be back to her old form which would put her in contention for a top 5 placement. Fingers crossed she is feeling fully recovered from her sickness by the time Sunday rolls around.
7. Fiona O'Keeffe- Definitely could fall in the above group somewhere as well, as she seems to be great at championship style racing. I see her or Sisson being top American.
I don't see Sullivan having a strong performance as Worlds was pretty recent, but I guess it's possible. I'm happy to see Seidel back on a start list, but she even said herself she is not in her old form and is hoping to run sub 2:30. Very interested to see how Amanda Vestri does- she has been a bit inconsistent this year so hoping she can have a good experience for her debut.
Bummed to see scratches from; Evans Chebet, Alex Maier, Jonny Mellor, and Pat Tiernan. It’ll be interesting to see how American debutants do. I image Bor will run with the leaders, Klecker will run safe, and Hicks will take more risks. But it’s New York, every year something surprising happens. The Lokedi and Obiri dual has gotten stale. I’m glad that Sifan is in there to shake it up. For the love of god please don’t go out balls slow the first half.
-Kipchoge gets praise on weird running socials for running even half splits (64:45/64:50) even though he simply ran with the lead group the first half
-Klecker 2:10:58
1. Sifan Hassan 2:22:11
2. Sharon Lokedi 2:22:13
3. Hellen Obiri 2:22:17
4. Sheila Chepkirui 2:22:30
5. Emily Sisson 2:23:04
6. Gotytom Gebreslase 2:23:27
7. Fiona O’Keefe 2:23:36
8. Vivian Cheruiyot 2:24:21
9. Susanna Sullivan 2:24:47
10. Eilish McColgan 2:25:06
-Sullivan leads a big pack through the half (1:13:11) and then O’Keefe ups the tempo and leads at 30k (1:42:45)
-Hassan closes the last 2.195k faster than all but the top 5 men (6:49), with Obiri and Lokedi doing the work until the last 200m
Like it. I think 2:06-2:07 for men and 2:20-21 for women. Id just flip your top 2 finishers on both sexes, and i like Bor for 2:08 and 6th-7th beating out Hicks.

Can the top four women push each other to sub 2.20?
In the influencer division, I think that Track Club Babe and Thomas from Believe in the Run will run similar times. Though I don't think Thomas is starting in the influencer wave, so that means that we'll be treated to Kipchoge and crew blasting by Track Club Babe about a mile into the race.
It's embarrassing that this is the kind of stuff that nets people sponsor bibs.
