BEATLES, they suck
BEATLES, they suck
Elton John
Tool
Enough already, they are mediocre at best.
Sting. I suspect that the millions of people that have bought his crap all think they are listening to a more sophisticated version of rock music, while at the same time a little voice in the back of their heads is whispering "in all honesty, this shit sucks".
what?
Motzart was one of the most brilliant composers/musicians that has ever existed. It's not about the chord progression. Mozart is all about melodic invention. This is where he makes it sound so simple yet he is one the most innovative voices of his time (all time?) and laid a foundation for -the romantic era-, or for Beethoven, but that's the same thing isn't it.
Bob Dylan. Worst....voice....ever.
Frank Sinatra.
Everybody famous is overrated. There are thousands of excellent bands around but only a few make it big, the gap between those who do and those who don't is really quite small but the gap in money and prestige and "legend" is immense.
you are 100% on

What are you, 20 years old or something? I doubt you'd know a talented musician if they bit you in the a##.
Lynyrd Skynyrd
What is innovative in one era becomes cliche and trite in another.
A musician does something in year XXXX. It's a new sound, a new energy, a new style, say, that captivates millions. What happens? It's copied, imitated, and built upon by 100's (or more) musicians all over the place.
If thirty years later someone listens to the original musician's stuff, he's likely to say, "What the hell did this guy get all that attention for? There's nothing special about his stuff - I've heard similar things from many other performers." They fail to understand that in the performer's day, what was done stepped past the perceived limitations of popular music and opened new opportunities for musical expression.
The most over rated musician I know is Tommy from down the street; he's 8 years old, murders "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and his parents think he's great. Pretentious twit.
Ludwig Van Beethoven. Anyone can write that kinda shit.
Yngwie Malmsteen!
I'll second Eric Clapton and add Bono
Bono (not Sonny), Bruce Springstien, Sammy Davis JF, Curt Cobain.
Robert Fripp, for sure
Anybody pathetic enough to not comprehend just how awesome, innovative, and transcendant Yngwie Johannas Malmsteen was/is/will always be is a troglodyte worthy only of scorn and derision. I fart in their general direction. bet you did not even know his middle name was Johannas...
