Sell gets 4th! Under 2:11
Sell gets 4th! Under 2:11
Meb 2:09:55 third
Sell breaks away from Culp for 4th! Right around 2:11.
Culp coming in at fifth.
i don't agree with bashing meb - i mean he ran his guts out - but i do think runners are a little sensitive about people being critical. ever been to a yankee's game? or a phili game of any kind? as more people get intrested in running you should expect the top guys to get some criticism
that being said I don't think you can bash anybody today. there were guys who were gutsy and some who were smart - but nobody ran "lazy" that's for damn sure. and isn't that all you can ask from sport? that everybody go out and do their best? in that measure distance running almost always comes through - especially on a day like today.
nice run by sell...actually excellent. great 2nd half. i think meb was too carried away on the first half of the race. he should have relaxed more. anyways...great race by the kenyans and americans!
Almost the same number of pages as a marathon (26). Weird.
And I know a marathon is 26.2 miles, but you can't have .2 of a page.
2:12:45 for Gilmore. PR by over a minute.
HANSON'S know marathon...
Meb ran great. His problem wasn't letting Cheruiyot or Maiyo go, it was getting sucked into a 62 minute half.
Congrats to Brian Sell, he ran one heck of a race and beat his PR by 3:23. WTG Brian!!!

Thanks for the live coverage guys.
Aye!
Yep, thanks for the coverage, great, great stuff!
No problem. To close this out, I'll just point out that Rawson said (loosely quoting):
"Keptoo averaged 5:26 per mile for a full marathon. Most people can't hold that for even a fraction of a mile."
Yes, I'm not making this up.
looks like the JV team of Sell and Gilmore earned their varsity letters today. freakin' outstanding effort guys! You are no longer the B team...A all the way.

Brian Sell wins the Max King Award.
meb 3rd
sell 4th
culp 5th
gilmore 7th
verran 10th
Cheruiyot's afire!
gREAT RACE BY ALL, I THNK MEB RAN TO WIN, SO THERE IS A RISK OF WHEELS COMING OFF AT THE END...SELL LAID OFF THE PACE, AND RAN HIS RACE FOR A PR..HE KNEW HE DIDN'T HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN AND RAN FOR A TOP 10 FOR SURE...IT SEEMS CULPEPER RAN OFF OF WHAT MEB DID...YOU CANT SAY IF MEB LAID OF THE PACE THIS OR THAT, YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE DECISION THEN, BAD OR GOOD AND GO WITH IT. GREAT DAY FOR USA MARATHONING...

What's your problem. Most can't.
