I am going to Vegas in May for a vacation. I am staying on the strip are there any training runs that start from the strip? I am not getting a rent-a-car so my runs will be around the strip.
Thanks

good luck its gonna be hot as hell and there is not much for running from the strip. i saw a lot of people just running up and down the strip but of course its all asphault and lots of peeps walking around. maybe outside of town would be your best bet, take a taxi 10 miles out and run back to the hotel or whatever. have fun! (SURE BET: Red 7)
If you take a very short taxi/shuttle ride to the south end of the strip, you will eventually come across a shopping center on the west side of the street called Vegas Pointe Plaza. That is the normal gathering point for the Las Vegas Running Team's Sunday morning long runs.
If you run against the flow of traffic, you will see mile markers painted on the street (i.e. LVRT 3) to help guide you. They go up to a 10-mile mark, allowing for as much as a 20-mile out-and-back course. The weather should still be fairly comfortable early in the morning, and traffic will be rather light as well.
If you have any another running-related questions once you get into town, call Dan Campbell. His number is on the web page, and he will take good care of you...

Enjoy your stay!
Thanks for the info.
I actually just took a trip to Vegas in January and did my running while out there. Your best bet is getting up and going first thing in the morning. The majority of people at 6 or 7 am are in recovery mode, so the strip is not very packed at all. You'd be surprised how many runners are on the strip in the early morning. Of course, there will always be the stragglers still stumbling their way home after a long night.
Wherever you are staying on the strip, get on the side that the Belagio and New York New York is on. Head down the strip toward NY NY. Take a right at the corner where NY NY is and go down one block. You'll see the highway go to the left and a sidewalk bear to the right. Stay on the sidewalk and take your next right. You will now be on Industrial Ave, which runs parallel to the strip one block behind it. There are a lot less people and entrances/intersections to worry about. You can take industrial as far out as you need to and do an out and back. I did this every morning for 5 days and got 10 in each day.
Be prepared for the concrete jungle. Even though there will be less traffic on Industrial than there is on the strip, it will still be easy and you may have to stop at an intersection or two.

I just got back from Vegas..ran 13 - 15 each day...at the MGM Grand....great treadmills with integrated TV's.
Unless you run very early on the strip, it's like running in Manhattan...you'll be constantly dodging people.
There a track at UNLV that I did some workouts on last time I was there, it was just a few miles from the strip.
