Hurta's best is only 4:01.79 from two years ago. Several Americans would get into that field before her. Johnson, Wiley, and Mackay off the top of my head.
Sorry, but I think McGee might be bringing up the caboose of that field. Her resume (1xOlympics, 2xWC teams) gets her in, but that field is stacked. Cranny is in a load of trouble, too, the way she has performed so far in 2024. 4:09/2:03 is not going to cut it.

Lamecha Girma is an interesting add in. Could he be a dark horse in this race?
Hasn't shown anything too promising this year but we know he can run fast at this distance after his 3:29 beating Kerr in Lausanne last year. Should be able to mix it up with the leaders if he's in form.
Mackay not in women's is a surprise. Given ESP is in it I'm assuming that wasn't a choice. Crazy that a 3:59 world indoor medalist doesn't make the field.
I'm gonna be honest, if Jakob is in the same shape as last year in his 7:54 2 mile, he will only really be challenged by Nuguse and Kerr. That's assuming they are in similar shape as well.

Erm he ran sub-13 in very humid conditions with a sub-56 last lap? That’s pretty promising to me. I don’t think he would win but being top 5 seems on the table.
