I too want my hobby jogger running shoes contract from Nike. Who determines she is worth more than me? Joe Biden said it's unfair. However, I will settle for $2.8 million contract. Just cut me my check. I want double carbon plated also with 2 inches stack height that will enable to me to run 2:20 marathon.
Did you actually read that article that you linked to?
A few posts up you stated this: “NY Times is already out saying she's overpaid because she's white.”
Show us where, exactly, The NY Times (The Athletic) stated that Clark is being overpaid because she’s White.
There was a quote within the article from another player expressing sentiment that black players are not getting the coverage that the should be getting but I did not read what you’re suggesting. The article is reporting what is being said and posited but it is not taking a position that Clark is “overpaid because she’s white.”
Just because you state something as being so, doesn’t make it so.
Not sure where you saw this, but it is not true. She is criminally underpaid because of the patriarchy.
Lib logic: She's simultaneously overpaid by Nike because she's white and underpaid by the WNBA because patriarchy.
It's the Free Market baby. You deserve what you get paid. Doesn't quite line up with actual value or any kind of moral quality, but that's the way the world works and I'm on board

The price would reflect actual value in a "free" market economy. Very few markets in today's capitalism are actually free. Most are limited by everything from entry & exit barrier, imperfect information, transaction costs, limited number of buyers or sellers, irrationality of buyers, etc.
Clark's WNBA contract is a product of the league's CBA which keeps the players salary low for the first four years so that veterans can be paid more. In a "free" market economy, she would instantly become the highest player in the league. The league's CBA does not reflect the actual value of today's league, because it was signed when the league revenue was lower than they are today. The current media rights contract does not reflect the true value because it was signed when the tv ratings were lower. There are many institutional factors that distort the price of goods and services, and this is just yet another example.
Her Nike contract is probably closer to her market value. If I were her representative, I would have asked for an opt out clause after four years so that I could renegotiate the contract in case her market value goes up. (I don't know if her contract has such a clause.) She took Nike's 8yr / 28M offer over Under Armour's 4 yr / 16M. According to one report, Adidas offered only 4yr / 6M. I am glad I don't own any Adidas running shoes, and I don't plan to buy any.
