Female hs runner here. ran an 11:08 last week in the 3200. Pretty big meet so adrenaline was prob high but I came in the one mile mark at 5:25 and felt absolutely great which shocked me and kinda gave me a little jolt of energy. I def lost a bit of time on the 6th and 7th lap clearly off my end time but 5:25 has never felt better. Confused me because my mile pr is 5:21 which doesn’t make sense bc I should be improving more in a year, but I just ran a 1600 yesterday with high hopes since my 5:25 in the 32 felt easy, and I ran a 5:30 and it felt so hard. I’m not sandbagging and I know the effort I gave. There were very light winds and it was pretty hot but not an excuse either way. anyone have any explanations of what they think I should be running in the 1600.
