He ran 2:11 for the marathon at age 41 or 42. What could he run today, with super shoes and better vitamins, etc.

There are all sorts of people now making calculations about how fast a 2:11 in traditional shoes would be in super shoes. Whatever that number ends up being would likely apply to Jack in the same way it would to any other 2:11 guy. Jack was not a fan of the modern running shoes of his time. There's a chance he might not even be willing to run in a super shoe but I think in the end curiosity would get him into a pair.
2:09. Shoes help for sure but they are not the miracle making 5+ minute devices the brojos make them out to be
Impossible to say, since the evidence seems to indicate the exact shoe and exact athlete can make a big difference on the economy improvements. But assuming he was an average responder, and the only thing you changed was his shoes, probably 2:08-2:09. Include all the other improvements in sports science and endurance training, and perhaps 2:06-2:07.
With the shoe and NOPe dope, 2:05.
Anyone that remembers or claims to know Jack Foster must be seriously old now.
Met him early 90's he'd just completed a mountain bike race, looked fit as.
Very fine runner who came into it from a cycling background. Unfortunately passed away after being hit by a car out riding.
That was 1974. I was in the stadium.
He died in 2004 at the age of 72. He'd not get close to his best.
I try to avoid being serious about much of anything but I am old.
He's the answer to fastest marathon by a cyclist from the other day.
