long story but I had a concussion about a year ago playing soccer. Probably the 5th I've had in my life and while I didn't lose consciousness (knee to head) it's definitely been the worst long term. I couldn't rest as much as I should have afterwards (no time off work) but did stop running for a few months. Cognitive symptoms unfortunately never quite went away. I started lifting - which I hadn't done in years - since my neuro said to avoid running until I was feeling better. I started using an assault bike to get my heart rate up and used a road bike a few times a week. Eventually I went back to running just 10m/w. Between all of this I started noticing my upper back and neck were constantly sore and beset with had terrible knots. When it was worse I noticed my concussion symptoms (or post-concussion syndrome, whatever you want to call it) was exacerbated. I dropped the weight lifting since that wasn't helping and have gone back to just running. I modulated my gait to what a physio said would put less strain on my upper body. I stretch a ton before and after running, take long hot showers to try to keep loose. But I'd like to add in some light exercises/stretches for my upper body and neck to keep things lose up there. Forgetting the concussion for a minute, any ideas to loosen up this part of the body? Yoga?
