Why is everyone assuming Kipyegon will run the 5000 in Paris? Has she said as much? I think her main goal is the 1500 triple Gold. Will she jeopardize that for another 5000 medal?
I can't wait for 3:45. It's definitely in the air. Or veins, or somewhere.
I really detest most of your posts on these forums. Just thought you should know.
Tsegay is a champ, love watching her compete. Paris is going to be incredible.
We can't clean up the sport if people remain so naive. If a close friend of mine (a 2:12 marathoner) says that the 2:04-2:06 guys are openly sitting in the pre-race tents and microdosing. Then you can bet your house on a woman running 3:50 for 1500m being dirty. Especially an Ethiopian!

Ah yes, your anonymous friend, quoted here by you, anonymously. Great evidence you present there.
So if a runner takes a new PED that is not banned you are OK with that?
No one is penalised for anything that isn't banned. It is up to WADA and sports governance bodies to make those decisions. A drug is not a ped until it is determined as such by antidoping. So I am ok with any drug that isn't banned. It isn't a ped.
(As for prosthetic hips - it's quite a stretch to suggest they are performance enhancing. You don't get any better than someone with healthy hips and usually not that good. So they aren't seen as conferring unfair advantage. Ask Andy Murray.)
I respond to someone whose posts are devoted to falsely representing the role of doping in sports, who minimises if not denies its performance enhancing effects, and who seeks to find excuses for convicted dopers. Propaganda of that kind shouldn't go unchallenged.
By the same token I understand that is how many see my involvement here - as unwelcome "propaganda" for a negative view of the sport - which is why I am amongst the least popular of posters on a running site. That doesn't matter. The sport has a serious problem, at all levels, and I call out that problem whenever I see it being excused or denied.

The women have the tougher 1500/5000 double this Olympic cycle:
Aug 3: 5000m - Round 1
Aug 4: 1500m - Round 1
Aug 6: 5000m - Final
Aug 7: 1500m - Heats
Aug 8: 1500m - Semi
Aug 10: 1500m - Final
I assume Kipyegon did the double in Budapest as a test. Pretty successful one at that. I can see her attempting to cement her legacy in Paris.

We can start by removing the bigger doper who is the current head of the world athletics.

So, if Tsegay is on something that isn't banned yet, you have no problem with it?

The 1500 was first in Budapest so she had nothing to lose by running the 5000. In Paris if she runs the 5000 she will have to race at least some of the Ethiopians on tired legs while they are more fresh. And her loss to Wetelji and Hailu in Riga is probably still fresh in her mind
Winning the 1500 would make her the only track athlete besides Bolt to win 3 Oly Golds in the same event and the only woman to do so. Will she risk that for another shot at a 5000 medal?
