I’m a sophomore girl and run 30-40 miles per week. I’m injury prone and the last time I was injured, this fall, I cross trained 9-10 hours per week. So at a minimum, 6 days of 80 mins and 1 day of 60 mins in a week.
At first I did a mix of hard workouts (could get very hard, where heart rate was above 190) and aerobic days (same heart rate as easy runs on land), but I switched to all aerobic after I got worried the brutal workouts were compromising healing.
When I first came back, I felt great and in shape, but as I kept running I got worse and slower. And I did keep up the cross training as I returned.
So I want to know how to cross train and at least keep myself in shape and maybe even get better.
How many hours per week? Hard workouts or not? What else should I know? How do you cross train most effectively? Please give tips!!
Btw it’s on the bike at first, elliptical/arc trainer in a few weeks
