Im a HS sophomore and attend a small class D school in Nebraska. I don’t do XC because the school doesn’t offer it, so football is my fall sport. I placed at last years state 3200 with a 10:38. My school is very focused on sports and track is no exception. My coach is the typical badass wannabe who was good in HS so they hire him as coach. We do multiple hard workouts a week with little rest and do high speed road runs. Right now I run 22-25mpw inside and outside practice. Each and every meet I do the 4x800, 3200 and 1600. I feel so burnt out at some points and feel like I can’t run the 3200 or 1600 at my best. I ask to only do one main event but he doesn’t listen. How is the best way to train before districts?
I would like to be in the 4:40s and 10:35s within a month or so. Is this possible and what do I have to do?
